My team is pretty much ready and I'm just waiting with my submission to avoid any kind of late surprises, injuries etc.

Yeh that's the main thing, it doesn't matter what other people pick if you think your team is the best. It's not like there are going to be identical teams.

yeah, I don't expect someone to have the same opinion as me. What might be a good prospect for one, is not necessarily the same for another.

anyway. I'm finally finished with my team.

Here be the facts ;)

14 nats
biggest amount from one nation = 7 (not dutch either. 5 from there)

+1000 = 0
+500 = 5 riders
100-500= 16 riders
100 and under = 12 riders, however only 1 rider is under 40.

I also believe I have a pretty good balance between climbers, sprinters, classic guys etc. However I think I lack GT men. Ahwell.

I believe my 10 most expensive riders will determine wheter I contest or not.
As it stands I believe they are the 10 riders who could have a great season or fail. Very up in the air on this.

I'm going to have 5 under 40

I think I'm done. Swapped in a couple of token Colombians (did well off them this year). Only 14 points left over now.

haha, for once we might not have identical teams in something.

I came close to having a few, but opted not to go for them; Osorio, kashechkin etc.

I'm most worried about my zero pointers, only taking two now.

I guess my top3 take up almost 3000 points, so I need a few cheapies :p

I dropped my 1000 + pointer when I had an issue with a returning rider points, 1 0 pointer.

I do have a lot of guys with new teams who I am hoping get a kick in the *** or I´m am screwed

...and a zillion teams draft Menchov. Tempting, but he doesn't always score that high, despite his quality. I reckon he'll just want the Tour and not care about anything else. Still think he is one of the better candidates for that race though.

Cheapies for teh win. I have six under 40. Saw a few decent ones under10 when scouring CQranking.com.

I already think Menchov was a common pick before he was constantly mentioned here, but now I'm sure alot of people have him cause he was mentioned :p.

Ach, there are no secret riders in the >500 point class. If you didn't know Menchov, you prolly wouldn't be reading the site, no matter playing this game.

Menchov is not in my team, I think there is better value in at least 4 or 5 other riders in his price bracket.

OK, I suppose he won't be that popular. It was just that he's bound to have a better season than 2011. But yes, not much better in terms of points.

The only reason I would have chosen him was to help my chances in grand tours because I felt that I was lacking some strength there.

I've seen posts along these lines on here before and I don't get it. You don't need to have a well rounded squad - the idea is to score points, it doesn't matter where they come from ;)

That's true, but - in an extreme example - picking a team of riders whose only goal for the season is finishing high in the Tour de France GC, for instance, probably isn't a good idea because, well, they can't all finish that high.

Farrar's sort of interesting. If he does 3 GTs again and scores in the classics (which he might, particularly with Hushovd gone), he could score over 1600: 80% increase.

Ugh. Nothing increases my indecision about my team as when I'm thinking about a particular rider and am on the fence about it, and then someone else mentions it as well. Not that this has anything to do with the quoted text...

True. But I think the way people see it is that if they can get a legitimate GC guy for GT's, they can score big points by landing a good spot in the general classification. That's how I see it.

more of an issue of balance then anything else, having a variety of riders decreases the chances that so many riders will be vying for the sekect amount of points in a race.
