Oh, boo-hoo. Your unique picks aren't going to win you the game. A huge stroke of luck with getting the combination of as many of the best value for return riders will.

Any*****s, almost finalised my team. I've got 33 riders but 100-odd points to spare, so going to try and figure out who's the best to upgrade. :D

to play devil's advocate you could, however, lose to someone whose lucky combination includes a couple of riders they'd otherwise forgotten about, until they were hinted at or discussed. I know from my own experience that I wasn't intending to include a certain Slovenian rider last year until I saw people listing the nationalities of their teams.

Also discussion of a rider potentially means that rider is selected artificially more than might otherwise be the case, giving them more significance in the game than might otherwise be the case.

I understand there are others who think its not about finding the bargains but about picking the right bargains.

PS you gonna play the youth CQ game on velorooms?

I think the opposite is true, the more you talk about a rider the less significance he has as a variable. You still have to pick 32 other riders as well and someone just copypasta'ing others suggestions is already behind the eight ball and wont win. Those that do the research and pick the right 20-30 will win. With a lot of luck of course.

Oh, I don't know about any games elsewhere, I haven't been there in a long time. Only around here because I remembered this.

The more teams that look the same, the less interesting it is for me. With 33 riders on a team it's very unlikely that anyone will have identical teams but when a name like Rafael Valls gets hyped on this thread last year and ends up in 50 odd teams, I think that's daft (although not as daft as those who picked him :D )

Yeah. I'd be for relaxing the 33 rider limit for this reason. Larger teams would be more diverse than they are now, despite those over hyped riders.

It doesn't matter if you talk about every rider under the sun, you're not going to get 100 teams picking the same 30 riders. And read the rest of my post, it directly responds to what you said about any RV wagoning.

The "Create your team" file has now been updated for the last time as cqranking.com has uploaded the final values. You can find the spreadsheet at http://cqmanager.net/download/ under the name "Create your team".

Remember also that the deadline is in 3 days on January 5.

We now have 75 participating teams. Later today I will go through all of them to see if any team is above the 7500 limit.

CQranking will change some of their points scoring for 2013

- In 2013 we optimized the CQ point scales by making the speed of decrease more equal for all stage races. The same thing happened for all one-day races. While doing this, we changed the total amount of points for each category as little as possible. We still didn't look for mathematical perfection, because we wanted to keep some recognizable, well-known numbers.

- We split up the category 2.WT in 2.WT1 (Paris-Nice, Tirreno-Adriatico, Vuelta al Pais Vasco, Dauphiné, Tour de Suisse) and 2.WT2 (the other WT-stage races).

- More riders receive points in categories 2.1, 2.2 and NC3.

- The points in WC U23 are now equal to NC3.

Unfortunately for a few teams, the newest update from cqranking.com includes several points adjustments, mainly due to Rasmussen's results being stripped away.

This means that quite a few teams are now above the 7500 limit and these will have to PM me with their changes. If I don't hear anything before the deadline, I will just remove the cheapest possible rider to get the team in question under 7500 points.

The teams are:

AntonioRossi: 7513
Blues in the bottle: 7502
cineteq: 7505

I wonder how many of them have a certain 20 pointer as their cheapest rider to be stripped away...

Thanks a bundle for doing this Hugo!
I was sure I was well under the limit, but either some of my riders have had their points adjusted, or my own copy and paste between my own versions have fooled me.
Should be easy to cut one single point however:p

BTW; Hugo will it be easier for you just to have a PM with one rider out and one in, or is it better to send the whole adjusted team?

If it's just one straight swap, the easiest for me is probably if you just tell me who goes in and who goes out, but if there are several changes, pasting the whole team is probably the easiest. It doesn't matter that much though :)

I was 7 points over the limit and just switched one rider for someone 7 points cheaper.

Submitted my team, too.

I played around a lot, but realised that I tend to drift to a core of 10-12 riders that always made it into the team, but none of them convinced me completely. So I decided to compile a mediocre team that should be fun to follow around through the season. Riders from 17 nations riding for 16 teams covering all kind of races. Can't wait for the season to start!
