Rein Taraamae was someone I agonized over a little. He could be a very good pick but what finally made me not pick him was that Cofidis has signed Le Mevel and Coppel which I think might hinder Taraamae's chances unless he gets back to unquestionable stellar form.

Yeah, me too with Taraamae. I finally had to admit that what was making me keep him on my team was an irrational feeling that it'd be cool to see someone from a non-traditional pro cycling country like Estonia do well. Realistically, while he can (and probably will) improve on his 384, I don't think he can do anything beyond doubling it, and I saw more promising guys for me in that bracket (Guardini, Kelderman, Rojas).

Looking at those riders I believe Rohan Dennis could be a factor as he was not picked by all that people. Barguil as well, but he is generally unpredictable. Rujano I am also apprehensive about as a lot of people picked him and I did not. I was hoping more people would pick Evans though

Well, there's a 70 percent overlap. That has to be a record with that many "good" picks this year and relatively few great ones. You have to admit that it looks that way, also because Hitch said something along the lines of wanting to help you secure a high placing. Which is the only reason why I checked.

I have all of the 23 most picked riders so ill have a similar team to anyone

Last year i was 2nd on skibbies list of participants by how common their riders were. I think i had like 31 picks same as some other posters.

But flo didnt see any of my team. That was or.course a closely guarded secret.

1. How do people imagine Rohan Dennis will score big points; what races or type of races do you expect him to succees in? I have heard predictions that he will be the top neo-pro. I strongly considered him but deemed that he was too expensive.

2. Ospina: I considered him but i was apprehensive about picking a rider i knew nothing about save for some rumours that he was talented. How high is his ceiling for 2013 and how much do people know about him.

I'm not sure about that. I don't think Cancellara cares about races like Eneco Tour, but I guess we'll see.

His spring will be more demanding than usual, anyhow, with most likely one week of the Giro on his schedule. I think he'll have a hard time getting pink if he doesn't do it in the first stage, but that's just me. How many points do you guys think he will score at the Giro?

Between 0 and 100. Nothing much. The giro is imo a hindrance. Its the spring where cancellara has to score his big points and the autumn where he needs to.top it off.

It could fail of course. Its a huge gamble, one which if we lose, then we are screwed.

I knew of.course that if i picked cancellara i would be risking my season on him. But as i looked at it more and more, i decided it was a risk worth taking.

I think all the bolded riders are ones that are zero pointers (others may be as well) so they dont show up on the last CQ download, CQ changed their spelling of vorobyev in a recent update.

What Helge sent wasnt good as it contained numbers behind user names and I just wasted hour of my time

luckily Armchair also sent his (correct) version.


This is another reason I didnt want to do it again from the stupid excel sheet. In addition to 40 new players all these name are missing or misspelled and must be corrected manually. Some of them have just extra space or so but for database with no unique IDs it is hard to update based on misspelled and non matching names ...

I have all of the 23 most picked riders so ill have a similar team to anyone

Last year i was 2nd on skibbies list of participants by how common their riders were. I think i had like 31 picks same as some other posters.

But flo didnt see any of my team. That was or.course a closely guarded secret.

Sure there will be lots of similarities, but last year's winner skidmark only has 17 picks in common with you now, for example. I'm guessing the presumed top teams are actually less similar this year, but I guess we'll have to see.

Between 0 and 100. Nothing much. The giro is imo a hindrance. Its the spring where cancellara has to score his big points and the autumn where he needs to.top it off.

It could fail of course. Its a huge gamble, one which if we lose, then we are screwed.

I knew of.course that if i picked cancellara i would be risking my season on him. But as i looked at it more and more, i decided it was a risk worth taking.

Yeah, I could see it if he starts caring about races that have little prestige, or manages to pretty much sweep the big spring classics. I guess motivation could be an issue for him in races no one cares about, though. I'm not yet convinced that he has any other goals than the Worlds late in the season. He usually treats the rest including the Vuelta as training rides.

My six unique picks and the reason why I picked them:
DEHAES Kenny 112 pts: Last man to get into the team, scored 295 points in 2011 and I think he should do something similar this year.
MINGUEZ AYALA Miguel 91pts: Still only 24. I was impressed with him as the best helper for Samu in Catalunya last year, and he finished close in several WT/HC races this fall. Will hopefully be allowed to race for own chances more this year. Chosen ahead of Sicard at equal cost...
CIMOLAI Davide 86 pts: Still only 23, and is probably forgotten after two disappointing seasons. Is quite fast, and looked quite promising at Liquigas in 2010 so I hope we haven't seen the best of him yet.
LE MONTAGNER Maxime 79 pts: Only 21 years, and got close in some French races last year. Probably most impressive when 10th in national champ. Should improve considerably this year, and will have a good race programme in smaller French races.
MOLARD Rudy 56 pts: 22 years, and has showed climbing potential beyond his results. I think he will have a breakthrough in 2013, and is the one among my six I am most surprised that no one else picked.
SKJERPING Kristoffer 7 pts: Still only 19, and probably the most promising Norwegian sprinter. Will probably not score huge, but at this price I thought that some of the other Norwegians here would also pick him.

Total cost of the six: 431. Target points for 2013: 1500
