Was a similar situation in this stage last year. Race split to pieces half way along.

Indeed. British weather + steep walls + if they could add some cobbles are ingredients for a perfect one-day race.

Nay ...he will be fine for 5/8 days and then he will be done. Giro is for guys who can do well all 3 weeks

Kennaugh needs ot concentrate on one week and one day races (and of course feminist issues )

Dennis and VDB missed the split. Around 17 riders in the front group. 5 Sky there with Adam Yates, Pauwels, Voeckler amongst others.

Yes agreed, the North of England has some brilliant racing terrain, the tour stage to Sheffield was excellent too iirc.

Yep, was a great stage. I was on some of those roads yesterday... glad I had my Gabba on, but couldn't do much about the chunks of hail in the face.
