Vaughters 2 cents on Armistead

Jonathan Vaughters‏@Vaughters

@timross21 no idea. As a person, she's horrible. Not nice at all. But I have no idea on this story.

for what it is worth.

JV gets off the fence. She must piss a lot people off for JV to be upset.

JV might be right. She certainly comes across as being somewhat charmless, but I'm interested as to how JV would know her. That's a pretty strong comment from him.....wonder if he has an axe to grind.

On another note, note sure if it's been posted here, but here is an article by Vicki Pendleton about ADAM'S and LA.

Key points: ADAMS was difficult for VP to manage. LA is absent minded, but ultimately Pendleton thinks she only has herself to blame.

Uh...hands up who hasn't upset JV yet? Several have earned Blocks for it. It's actually quite easy.

I haven't been blocked by him, and have disagreed with him many times. So not that easy.

Back to topic, is LA riding the TT?

Cervélo.

Oh..durrrrr...of course.

It wasn't exactly the most successful team merger in history, and I guess Armistead must have really got under his skin.

I got blocked by him for saying, 'Astana mustn't have got that memo about 2006'.

Not sure if LA's riding the TT.

Typically lame from JV.
He's asked his opinion about the whereabouts situation, which is a normal thing to ask him imo seeing how he dedicated his life to antidoping and all that. But instead he slams her for her personality...

How dare you confront him with his own lies and fraudulous PR spin!

not sure about Lizzie and the TT either
(keeping it on topic :D )

I didnt really see Pooley speak once to Armitstead yesterday at all. She was either on the front or back and opposite of Armitstead.
I watched the whole race and for large swathes of time no GB riders were visible on the screen. Further, Pooley rides either at the front or at the back. She's not big on riding in the bunch.

This maybe nothing.

Just something I wondered about yesterday.
I don't think things have been great between them since Armitstead chased her down when she was leading in the closing stages of the Commonwealth Games RR 2 years ago. Pooley has openly criticised Armitstead over the missed tests and she turned up late to register for yesterday's race - highly unlikely to be unintentional as Pooley is one of the most organised and intelligent women cyclists.

Did you guys see this?

Apparently Armitstead's father is a huge d-bag as well. Perhaps that's where she gets it?

...Armitstead had admitted before the race that she would be forever dogged by the controversy over her three missed drug tests, regardless of the result, and before the start of the race her family were involved in a bad-tempered confrontation with sports journalists.

Her father John confronted the journalist who broke the story of the missed drugs tests, grabbing his press pass and berating him. Another member of their entourage said he was “surprised” to see the journalist at the race.

Armitstead, who took silver at London 2012, would have been one of the least popular winners at Rio 2016 after her fellow athletes lined up to say she should have been thrown out...

The Guardian have that as well
Armitstead’s family bearded and berated at least one national newspaper journalist on the Rio beachfront.
I Tweeted JA abt it last night, asking him to confirm it (he's the one who somewhat inaccurately originally said LA had appealed the first strike at the time) but he's yet to reply. Looks like Deignan's marrying into a family he'll feel perfectly at home in. All Lawton has to say of it is this
Who is to blame for that? She has tried to point to a UKAD tester and a family emergency and on Sunday, here on Copacabana, her parents and other supporters were in no rush to recognise the responsibility that ultimately rested on her shoulders as a professional athlete, a world champion no less.

“She doesn’t need to take drugs – she’s got Yorkshire grit.”

That's me convinced then.

63 year old Martha from Yorkshire knows best ;)

On another note with respect to LA father beating up on the journalist who broke the story on Lizzie. It really puts Syed's whistleblowing comments in a box. As soon as a story breaks he is getting beat up on whilst he was out performing the duties for his job at the Games, being told he shouldn't be there. This is just one disgruntled family member, I'd hate to think what Brailsford has planned for Holt in blacklisting him from other races.

Oh, so 'grabbing a press pass' is now 'beating someone up'.

A new day, a new myth is born.

i think Hog posted "beating up on the journalist ".

"beating up on" is not necessarily meant in a physical manner and i believe is common parlance in parts of the UK.

But hey don't let that distract...

Confusing, isn't it? To beat up on someone might just mean colloquially "to blame or criticize someone" but the terminology is easily misunderstood. Journalists should be more careful in how they use English.

Thank you, the kwikki narrative is in full swing again. Funny how they change your words to fit an agenda.
