I've always seen him like a mini De Gendt as well but I have to admit I lost a bit of hope this season.

I'm getting increasly worried about Wanty transfer market and outlook for 2025. Retaining the WT status It's not a given.

Replacement for Sjoerd Bax. And an upgrade, most likely. Herregodts is a very good rider. Definitely not out of place as a workhorse/occasional Hirschi for UAE.

I don't agree that he's an upgrade to Sjoerd Bax. Herregodts is a descent rider, better TTer for sure (and Bax isn't too shabby at it either), but that's basically it. He hasn't made the progression people expected from him. He's to onedimensional for now. He could ofc make some steps at UAE, but he will definitely not be an "occasional Hirschi". I don't even remotely see the comparison.

Occasional Hirschi as in sometimes allowed/lucky enough to be able to go for his own result. Bax also won a random 1.1 while at UAE. In general I don't understand the complaining about big teams signing workhorses. Don't really think Herregodts will fail at the job he is brought in to do.

Bax also won a 1.1 at Alpecin when he was in his first pro year, beating no one other than Alejandro Valverde. It has NOTHING to do with complaining about signing work horses, I just don't see really see the fit, definitely not on UAE's side as I think they can do better. Unless they really just want to use him for early work in races but then I hope the money is good for Herregodts, cause he throws his own chances with that most likely.

And I just don't agree with the Herregodts > Bax narrative, at least not current level wise. Herregodts is a bit younger tho.

In the end its almost every time about the money. I think if any other team would have offered her more money she would take the other team.
And we know how big Trek is in the market. I think there was no other team which matched the offer from Trek.

While Trek may very well have been the highest bidder, they also offer a more professional environment and contract security than some of the other possible teams (who knows how long HPH will survive?), and I think NFB might be just as concerned about that than the amount on the paycheck.

Was it about money or professional environment. AVV chose Movistar when she left Jayco, and she had no problems with money or supprort. Anyway she'll have to share the GC spoils with Realini and Markus.

NFB is on her best days a stronger climber than Markus, and she's a better rouleur than Realini, so at least they looks like easier competition than Vollering and Kopecky, and potentially Van der Breggen if she had stayed at SDW.

I think she has chosen unwisely and will not obtain the experience as a GC leader. Reckon, that Bradbury should also have moved to another team. There seems to be a lack of ambition amongst the budding GC riders.
