While Trek may very well have been the highest bidder, they also offer a more professional environment and contract security than some of the other possible teams (who knows how long HPH will survive?), and I think NFB might be just as concerned about that than the amount on the paycheck.

Was it about money or professional environment. AVV chose Movistar when she left Jayco, and she had no problems with money or supprort. Anyway she'll have to share the GC spoils with Realini and Markus.

NFB is on her best days a stronger climber than Markus, and she's a better rouleur than Realini, so at least they looks like easier competition than Vollering and Kopecky, and potentially Van der Breggen if she had stayed at SDW.

I think she has chosen unwisely and will not obtain the experience as a GC leader. Reckon, that Bradbury should also have moved to another team. There seems to be a lack of ambition amongst the budding GC riders.

He seems to have folded at the first sign of adversity, after beating everyone all season. Surely there is something else going on here.
He has a release clause of barely €25.000, his stay was never ensured. It was already an immense haul for Kurt to get him to Lotto in the first place. I, for one, am not surprised. The kid is ultrahyper ambitious, maybe even too much.

I can see him unify the cycling world like no other: everyone is going to hate him. I do not wish it upon him, but I can just see it clear as day.

I don't think anyone is surprised haha. And fully agree, he has everything to be hated. He's already not the most liked rider in the peloton. I don't think it's gonna get better. We'll see how far he gets, he obviously is super talented, but I'm still not sure if he will be the GT rider like he wants to be.

For Lotto/Van de Wouwer I would not even try to get these type of talents in the future, they will leave anyways. Signings like Taillieu are probably way better for them.

I mean you cracked during the biggest race of the season. Instead of internally discussing it with the team you go to the media to voice your complains. You're also in your first U23 year, pretty common practice to go and search for your boundaries.

This is just the equivalent of a American sportsmen forcing a trade out of one team into another. You publicly throw a tantrum and then wait for a team to bite.
In this case Bora. But if this is Widars character then good luck to them. Lotto should play it dirty aswell tbh, they can't just let the biggest Belgian GC-prospect since Eddy Evenepoel walk away. They'll be forced to put up a fight to show their sponsors they did whatever they could.

If there's actually a release clause of only 25000 dollars Lotto has nothing to say (and they honestly shouldve never signed him in the first place imo if that kind of release clause was needed).

Also like I said, Bora was talking to Widar (or his agents) before Avenir, so before it went wrong, and before the tantrum. Of course it could be that something already was going on behind the scenes (haven't heard anything but could be) but this sounds more like Widar complaining in the press on purpose so people won't blame him for leaving.

Also what sponsors?
