Gotta add Contador on Stage 19 - gutsy all out attack on the Telegraph/Galibier left the entire field strung out and splintetred only 15km into the stage and 90km from the finish, dropping many contenders/pretenders in the process. Then went again with a devastaing attack at the base of L'Alpe d'Huez. Shame he fell apart in the closing kilometres and couldn't win the stage.

I love that Millar video of his first stage win at the Tour. Sure they have already been mentioned but haven't gone through the whole thread...

Pantani to les Deux Alpes in 1998
Contador on Etna in this years Giro
Contador to Alpe d'huex this year - who attacks 16km into a stage?!?!
Cancellara - take your pick from RVV, or P-R last year, or at E3 this year.
And much as I dislike him, Lance on Luz Ardiden following his tumble.

Floyd Landis: Stage 17: Five climbs: Col des Saissies (category-one, 14.9km – 6.4% at 82.5km), Col des Aravis (cat-2, 5.9km – 7.1% at 109.0km), Col de la Colombiere (cat-1, 11.8km – 5.8% at 134.0km), Cote de Chatillon-sur-Cluses (cat-3, 5.1km – 4.9% at 162.0km) and 1,691m (‘Hors Category’, 11.7km – 8.5% at 188.5km).

Sorry, I am kidding.

But honestly, from this year I'm going to say Cunego Tour de Suisse: not the longest, the most exciting, but gutsy as ****. Just saying that was a very enjoyable attack to watch.

1952. Need i say anymore. A moment that is immortalised in cycling history.

Sandy Casar in (stage 18/19 can't remember) 07 was quite good if only because of the determination.
Rasmussen on the Aubisque that same year along with Levis' ITT.
Landis 06.
Gilbert at RvV this year. I thought he would win.My first classic that i ever watched fully. ( M-SR Highlights and WC RR not included )
Cancellara/ Contador on any race practically when they put their minds to it.

An ineffective move TJVG attacking stage 8 this year at the TDF. Problem is that one dude stayed there that whole time.

Not an attack, but the only time I've actually shouted at the TV in awe that I can remember was that side on view on the Champs this year when Petacchi was sprinting and then suddenly Cav shot passed as if he had a jet engine on.

The other one that springs to mind was Indurain's in 1995 (the Bruyneel wheelsucking one), partly as it was such a great display of power and partly because it was so unexpected.

...yeah, that particular Indurain move was in the moment a mind blower...do note who was on his wheel at the time...and seconds later sucking fumes...
our rave fave genuine 'merican hero type person...Lancie-pooh...though to be fair about it the entire peloton was sucking fumes...

Great contribution there.

Never seen that before but it was an awesome attack, to just keep going in a straight line when everyone else turns and have the race won by the time they realize. Freire was a special type of rider.

That was his second pro victory by the way.

Pure genius. Absolutely perfect timing, in fact the timing is so good that even with bad legs he would've been able to pull it off.

Quite incredible to think of that just the year before he had lost the sprint vs Arvesen in the u-23 worlds.
