I wouldnt say El Pistolero hates every rider, but some of the things he says sometimes about Andy Schleck in particular, but also Cav and Devolder, go a bit far.

How could you forget De Gendt?

I will concede that when you arent defending the status quo, you come up with some moments of brilliance :)

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if theres some "Miracle recovery for Gesink, going strong for Oman and spring classics" statements popping up soon. Its just how it works around here..!

maybe once this happens make such claims, at this point no one expects much from gesink next year ;)

---

Chris Froome.

Maybe Haneo, don't get me wrong I do think he will be good, I just don't believe he is going to waltz into the WT and destroy everyone on every little incline like some suggest here ;)

just some guy said:
Plus any Columbian rider by you.

if were to go by ryos hype, i believe every colombian rider will fall short ;)

El Pistolero said:
How many posts haven't you made about Valverde winning the Worlds and other races?

Countless of posts. Even in this thread people are expecting him to pick up 15 wins. And just look at every post from c&c fan, he does think that. Just look at the Valverde coming home thread, enough posts there.

Valverde never could challenge the Tour, that's why no one is saying that.

well if were to take stupid speculation posts at heart, then unless gilbert wins every classic, every gt and cures cancer next year he'll not likely match your fanboyism hype.

I never said anything about Gilbert winning GTs though(only that he'd have a shot at Vuelta if he aimed for that and sacrificed all the one day races). Let alone that he could ever win a real GT like the Tour or Giro :p

And he can win every classic besides Roubaix, don't see any problem with stating that :p

I expect one Monument and the Worlds. Pretty moderate if I say so my self. ;)

Owh yeah, how could I forget about him

Probably some more I've forgotten.

Sadly Thomas isn't riding the Tour. It seems like a Tour that's well suited for him.

I don't actually defend much. On this forum I tend to oppose the more overblown, reactionary and paranoid opinions. My own views are pretty middle of the road. I have another forum for less combatitive chat.

The 2 riders in bold have alternately ridden the Giro and the Vuelta or the Vuelta and the Tour, especially Anton, I don't see how you can accuse him of this.
Ah you're right I know. I probably should have said GT's. From interviews I got the feeling that they don't care that much for classics. It's just another race.

Is expecting him to place well in the classics and have some good 1 week races overhyping him?

I look forward to your Simon Gerrans comeback thread then.

Ah come on man.

I will also admit that you possibly have the best cycling knowledge on the forum as well, but lets be honest, you do defend the status quo a lot. You strongly defend the UCI from when people complain about the fast track of Beijing to the top. You advise riders to sue posters who suggests they are doping, or sue the forum at least.

Hell even in the thread about how Messi smashed the ball into the crowds faces, you claimed it was an accident all the way up to the point that hrotha pointed out that if it was an accident he would have apologized, not run away.

And I understand your point of view most times, its just that you do end up having a different opinion to me often.

My list not to perform
-Froome. Cant see him doing anything nextyear unless every real contender bombs out at the veulta again.

-cobo. same as above

People who will perform but (possibly) not to the hype
-contador. Only for the fact if he loses the tour, even if he comes second he hasnt performed to the way people think he will. People on here are talking like its already decided.

-Evans. If he does not get top 3 at tour.

I really think contador's biggest threat is Evans, but i think evans biggest threat is himself.

Of the classic riders, i dont think anyone is hyped up to much. Everyone seems to think gilbert will win a couple but not dominate like this year but not really talking up other contenders.

that's so much bs about op. every rider in op has his career shut off. guys like botero(who was acquitted even by uci), sevilla, mancebo etc were all omitted from big teams and are now left riding in colombia or usa or retired. valverde was truly the only one that wasn't getting punished
So do you think the codename "Sevillano" belongs to a different rider?

As for the question in this thread, my answer is Froome and Valverde.

Being the fanboy I am, I'm gonna say Tony Martin. Reason being that Cancellara's going to come back and crush the time trials and make Tony Martin the type of world champion that Bert Grabsch was, one that doesn't win much with the rainbow stripes.

Tony martin is far better then grabsch ever was. He has been dominant for a couple years to be honest, and even if he doesn't go back to back in itt stripes, I am certain he wins mant ITTs.

Gilbert.

Thor is going to take alot of his steam away. You just can't make both happy, I don't see it.

+1

And to think of the TdF team selection... Thor and Phil on the same team (with their egos) to support Evens? That's going to be a mess.

If you look at this team from a business perspective it's typical of an over-capitalized organization. I don't see it working either.
