not really a surprise that you have a photo like that in a handy place, is it laminated by any chance?

No need. It's on the ceiling where it can't get moist.

I have an uncomfortable feeling that his lack of form is a snowjob.

Love him or hate him, one thing that cant be denied is that he knows how to time his peak for the tdf. I think that him and Bruyneel have a "show em nothing" strategy leading in to this Tour. I just can't believe that does not know exactly where his numbers are at. I think that he is just soft pedalling at the moment.

This was reinforced to me by a comment from a guy I know who did the Gila who said that Armstrong hardly seemed to be trying most of the time except for a few occasions, but that when he did smack it he put the hurt on the field big time he said that even in the TT he looked like he had just done a training ride at the finish and looked far from smashed.

Time will tell of course, he may be the worlds biggest ego but he is also one of the worlds best preparers.

This is spot on.

That's because the Tour of Gila, for a top pro, should be a training ride.
The only way a rider can "snowjob" his way through the entire season and "fly" in July, is through the right "gearing".

Apparently, there are lot of idiots who would still like to see this Tour de Farce.

I agree. Its been proven that by deliberately riding slower in all the races you enter regardless of time of year means you ride faster in July.

Come on? Can this really be believed? Why wouldn’t you just go out training instead?

Hmmm. It might be more to do with how competitive he is. He either races to win or seems to like to show is he not competing by doing extra poor. Like when he finished four minutes down at the Criterium. He seems to like to show that he's not trying.

More likely is he building up very slowly - the classic way to make sure the peak is stronger and longer. At his age that is extra important. Like you I can't believe he doesn't know precisely what he is doing.

It usually means just the opposite-you'll suck worse and should train instead.
He may have a PR motive as much as anything based on how shallow the effort appeared to be. I don't think anyone can deny that the limelight and it's payoff is his biggest prize these days.

Call me an idiot, then. I am definitely more stoked for this than any I have seen so far. (It's AC vs The World, not AC vs Lance)

I think Lance will do very well relative to his age and performance (or lack of) so far this season. But is that really saying much?

I agree. He’s already won. He’s dragged in more cash in these two years than in the entire 7 of actually winning. There is no reason to win any more when being fat and losing pays at this rate. Ode to Ullrich here; Why win when your getting paid as Germany’s highest sports earner?

He's got to avoid that possible Disco crash to keep it all.

Umm, in an LA thread you've used a two syllable word that ends in "job" ... congrats, you've just caused Polish to get overly excited. :p

Get on an indoor trainer or something productive. It's better to watch the coverage while hurting yourself, kinda like religious scourging.

Folks, let's get serious. There hasn't been anything original in this thread for about 30 pages. Enough slanderous hackery already!

What everybody ignores is the fact that Lance Dopestrong was right! Doping should be silenced, if only to protect the image of sponsors. This sport is totally small time in terms of football, the other football, and the legion professional sports out there. Money invites performance enhancement. More money more doping. It's a simple fact.

And so why should cycling, and other totally small money sports like track and field, get all the scrutiny for doping while the NFL in particular would actually like to have doctors who could titrate - at will - particular phamaceuticals via implant, giving measured doses of specific drugs at specific times, in order to enhance performance.

That's a little science fiction that has already been tried in one professional sport, and it's not cycling.

We all know that being a pro sucks. You shouldn't have to take drugs that completely alter your physiology and have who knows what long-term consequences. Will we ever know if consumption of these medications may cause long-lasting damage to the body, the nervous system, the cardiovascular system, and perhaps cause cancer?

Why did Vandenbroucke die? Why did Armstrong get cancer?

Riders shouldn't be persuaded or coerced to dope, especially for a 40k Euro a Year paycheck.

In spite of the tragedies I cannot find the argument that cycling is a particularly corrupted sport convincing. Other sports must be far more corrupt than this. Isn't that obvious?

Fans need to stand up and demand better racing. We are tired of formula, we are tired of Director-Sportifs controlling everything from inside team cars. We are tired of wimpy riders who don't like racing all that much, and we are tired of riders who only care about one single race. We like inspired racing, we like attacks, and we like tactics.

Interesting comment by Wiggo today. He said by doing the Giro it gives him 20+ days of solid training with no distractions. ie no family, no home life to get in the way. Smart guy. He's going to **** on Lance's fat gut. Go wiggo!

I think he is peaking way too early and is going to crack like Menchov did last year in the tour. Thats regardless of how fat LA is. I think Wiggo will fall apart.
