I hope Armstrong gets cancer again and dies. It would serve him right for perpetrating a fraud on people with terminal disease. Go to town on that, Skippy.

Not to try and portray myself as the student some of you truly are of the rich history of racing, but I think there are more than a few differences. We're gonna see one of them in a few weeks.

At this point I predict 9th this year in the only race that matters to Armstrong. That would be an amazing accomplishment.I always read the Outside articles when I see them at the dentists office. Not really a cycling mag. but they like Lance what the hey, different viewpoints. I hate how I am aging when I look in the mirror. Last year Lance amazed me in the Tour, coming to the top of Ventoux with Schleck and Contador. I think Lance is crazy to ride the tour, but good luck to him!

there are plenty of ways of telling someone you were offended by something, or didnt find something funny.

Calling them a peice of Shit isnt one of them. Its an example of the level of your intelligence or lack of that you couldnt raise the subject in an adult manner, or by PM if you were that offended. I have edited it as it offended you so. Next time try adult conversation or using the inbuilt forum reporting system and report posts that offend you to a moderator. I apologise again for any offence. Personally I found it funny, if a little dry/black. End of conversation.

ok... so now I lack intelligence because you are were infantile to begin with?

Hmm. Sorry, I'm in my 30's and I don't find Lance an inspiration at all.

But Lance is surely an inspiration for the likes of Jens Voigt. Now Jens knows he can keep riding.

Why not? Even if you don't like him as an individual it's great to see someone older being at the highest ranks of pro-cycling, surely?

I raced in packs with Armstrong when I was older than he is now. I finished well ahead of him but behind Hincapie and some other strong, young riders. You could tell who was the class of the field at the time and he was clearly a development in the making at best.
Anyone his age or older knows well enough what it took for him to get there and it is not inspiring.

I ride my bike and to see Lance up there with the best is inspiring. I am 56.I know most of you have nothing but bad to say about Lance and that is your right. I know a little bit about sports and Lance is accomplishing a great deal now. I do not care if the reporter or kid booing in Luxemburg had their feelings hurt. That is there problem, they trolled for a reaction and got one from Lance. They can talk to their grandchildren about there relationship with Lance in 2010.

Why have Armstrong as an inspiration while you can have Malcolm Elliott instead? :p

Or Jeannie Longo.

Wait, these people don't count for some reason. Maybe they don't inspire you if you don't even know about them or something?

+ 1.

This may seem like a cliche, but it's not if you win or lose, but how you play the game....

I don't know how to respond to that without knowing the circumstances of what you are talking about. But are you claiming you are better than Lance Armstrong? I don't think the guys in the peloton would agree with you.

A lot of athletes have to deal with deluded people who beat them at school or in their early career and claim this as proof they were better than them. I remember the former gold medal Olympic sprinter Limford Christie was very irritated that someone he hadn't met for years crowed that they beat him at school.

Hincapie and the rest of Armstrong's team, and most of his rivals, doped to the extreme, yet Armstrong still beat them in the TTs and was stronger in the mountains. So if you're suggesting "that how he got there" I disagree.

not on topic with recent stuff re: outside mag, but just saw photos from TDS. Why doesn't he have the world champ / us champ stripes on his sleeve? I mean, surely incorrect kit. This will warrant a hefty fine from the UCI (maybe in july sometime when his next installment is due?). Maybe somewhere in the region of $500,000
