Obviously all the guys in this forum are 19 year old kids, so maybe they don't realise that Armstrong continuing to race at his age is a real inspiration for older riders. And not just real old guys, but even riders in their 30s worried about slowing down. It's a great thing to see for a lot of people.

As for the picture, I think Armstrong looks his age - 38.

I AM an older rider and the only inspiration i get him from him is the disgust that burns like bitter bile at the back of my throat at people who's greatest achievements are built on a fraud and lies while the vast majority of us work hard, play by the rules...and eat sh!t

not on topic with recent stuff re: outside mag, but just saw photos from TDS. Why doesn't he have the world champ / us champ stripes on his sleeve? I mean, surely incorrect kit. This will warrant a hefty fine from the UCI (maybe in july sometime when his next installment is due?). Maybe somewhere in the region of $500,000

Lance plays by his own rules. That is why he is known as "The Boss".
The pre-pubes and teens on this thread can question it.Fine, go ahead. Lance does as Lance sees fit. "The Boss"

You must really hate cycling. Because you have heroes in this sport who are just as bad or worse. Better to just not purchase the products Lord Phamstrong advertises. Enjoy the sponsorship he provides. Ride your bike. Breath.

I don't know how to respond to that without knowing the circumstances of what you are talking about. But are you claiming you are better than Lance Armstrong? I don't think the guys in the peloton would agree with you.

A lot of athletes have to deal with deluded people who beat them at school or in their early career and claim this as proof they were better than them. I remember the former gold medal Olympic sprinter Limford Christie was very irritated that someone he hadn't met for years crowed that they beat him at school.

Hincapie and the rest of Armstrong's team, and most of his rivals, doped to the extreme, yet Armstrong still beat them in the TTs and was stronger in the mountains. So if you're suggesting "that how he got there" I disagree.[/QUOTE]

First bold-not now, definitely then. And the guys in the peloton would have agreed with me, including Hincapie and the doped Coors guys that beat us all up.
You have no idea how any of these guys got there. I do.

And on the cover of this months' "Men's Journal" magazine (another yuppie rag) a fanboy write-up with a twist.

(If someone could post the cover to the issue, I'd really appreciate it. I tried and couldn't find one suitable for posting)

The cover blurb says "Lance's Revenge-Angry, tuned-up and ready to kick A$$".

Why is he angry? What revenge is he seeking and against whom? Well, it appears to be against Contador.

Funny how that is, being that Armstrong was the one who initiated all the drama last year-all for nothing because in the end fat boy couldn't cut it and had to be dragged over every hill and dale by the team, who were supposed to be working for Contador.

He has manufactured yet another contrived grievance against someone who supposedly did him wrong, and he must now go to the Tour and settle the score.

But wasn't his comeback to promote cancer awareness, you say?

The article wrongly states that most every person who has done great things must be a tool. It's part of the package.

If Armstrong were a bigger tool he'd be sponsored by Craftsman.

Whenever I read something like this I cannot hide my utter and complete disgust at this guy, not just as a cheater but as a human being. He can stick his cancer foundation up his rear end.

Not only do I hope he gets his behind handed to him by Contador at the Tour, but I hope someone has the courage to step up and cooberate Floyds' accusations.

Enough with this guy already.

When it all goes down, will you revise that to "The Felon"?

or maybe "The Inmate"?

I will leave that to you to speculate. I have been won over by Greg LeMond However. I think that if we want to clean up cycling it needs to be across the board. Not just with Lance and Bruyneel. I know that many here would enjoy taking those 2 heads but really it must go deeper then that.

I think everybody knows that, but if LA goes, there is a good chance that at least somebody at the UCI goes due to his prolonged protecting of LA.
But you're right the sport needs a thorough cleinsing. I hope at least all the trainers doctors DS's and manager implicated in the Flandis-case are taken out of cycling, as unrealistic as that may prove to be. I hope that the riders implicated cooperate, because really, if the we get the managers and the like that is far more important to cleaning up the sport than punishing the riders

We all hope this for a real sport, hopefully. The UCI is definitely the hydra-headed beast that perpetuates the activity and profits the most. It's going to take an independent testing and administrative body to clean this sh*t up. You'd almost have to suspect any DS, trainer, promoter or anyone that's been in the sport prior to (what year)? It's gone on forever.

Let's steer this thread back to Armstrong, shall we? Bad joke from dim, massive overreaction by Wheelsgoround. Back to Lance.

Photoshop jobs are extremely lame. Even for a magazine whose sole purpose is to substitute for toilet paper in a pinch.

Too bad they couldn't photoshop some humanity into those eyes. I guess there are limits to what can be faked.

Lots of people use that argument, not just about Lance and Bruyneel but also for example about Valverde being banned while others who were just as implicated as him can keep riding. And it doesn't make sense. How many people get away with crimes not related to sports? If you murder someone, is your defense going to be "Tons of people have done it too, and they were never punished"?

There's a certain injustice in punishing someone for something others get away with, sure, but that's not more unjust than the alternative you are implicitly suggesting. "Everybody or Nobody" doesn't make sense.

As an American I do not like to see American Icons get smacked down solamente, singularly. I am nationalistic that way.
I thought when Bill Clinton was almost impeached for philandering it made us as Americans look ridiculous.
If you purge armstrong bruyneel though since they are the head of the hydra it could take down a lot of other heads which would be good in the long run.

I guess he's in Outside this month too...and not happy about the t-shirt altering on the cover...

sorry for the repost...

Did you read the cover caption: "Angry, tuned up"-I wonder who thought that didn't have multiple meanings?

And Flicker: yes, let's start with those two heads of the hydra. That may get some fence sitting folks to confess rather than suffer a similar fate.

I came in here expecting to read about today's TDS stage, but alas, just bickering.

From all reports LA looked strong today, finishing 5th and looks to be in good shape. Maybe there were no posts because many of the haters don't want admit he did well and the fanboys are all getting drunk in relief and celebration haha.

But in all seriousness, it would seem to be a solid result and is now in top 10 on GC,.

You can say what you want about my Lord but today he had the patch on the right testicle at the Suisse. Made Andy look like crapola.
