Is Michelob a sponsor of Team Radio Shack? That would explain a lot.

Pro Tour teams have obligations beyond those to their sponsors. If teams only picked races on your criteria, why would any European based team bother to race in your beloved Tour of California in May? Does Liquigas do big business in SoCal?

And it's actually a sports team, which needs other sports teams to compete against, and they've been granted a license by the UCI, who might not have rushed to do so if they knew in advance the team would skip major UCI events. Pro teams are required to send teams to a lot of races. I guess the Giro is on the list because who would ever pass up the Giro.

They dismantled an Astana team that was one of the best in the world last year, took every rider they wanted, and bragged about how great they were. LA proclaimed them to be the Dream Team. Then real life rolled around. I've never heard of a team turning down a chance to race the Giro, or hear one admit that with 25 riders, they weren't strong enough to compete in two races at once. Liquigas can field strong squads for the Giro and California. So can Saxo Bank, Garmin, HTC Columbia, and any number of others. When Radio Shack puts all their eggs in the Amgen and loses to a team that's also doing well in Europe, they're going to be a laughingstock. And after the Tour de France, they'll fall apart completely.

Over the weekend I deleted all of my entries, and my ignore list. You get to be the first one added back on, even though calling people weenies does make a strong case for your side.

We know why Astana was gutted. Armstrongs' quest for 8. Radioshack is a support team for Lance. We know that. Giro is an Italian race. We in the US know nothing about the Giro without an explanation by Phil/Paul and Roll. Shack does not have depth for the Giro and the Tour. To send Horner or Levi there as a leaders would be a joke. They would crash and be out. To honor the Giro you send a strong team.

I mentioned Michalob as they sponsored the Crit. I. on Versus. Good coverage I appreciate that.

And in the very next post, there it was, never fails.

If it is all for the sponsors, why bother with applying for a ProTour licence? Why bother with a +20 man squad? Just have a 15 man team with ProContinental licence, then you dont have to do any other pesky races the sponsor dont care about. You are just wasting sponsorship money by having all those extra riders competing in those extra races

Funny also how people rave about all the great sponsors Lance brings to the sport, a sponsor that only cares about 2 races and will more than likely **** of again after Lance retires. What a great sponsor to have, short term opportunism abounds. Why is it every other team sponsor wants to see their riders do as well as possible.

i AM CLUELESS why Lance does what he does. I do know he was married to Kristian Armstong hs 3 children with her, dated Sheryl Crow and I heard Sandra Bullock flies around in a private jet, meets with world leaders etc. Cool! I guess he has something going on. (Just my opinion) Plus he rides his bike. To me he is a rock star. To come back after cancer I respect. Your doping accusations true or not still a rockstar and not fat.

So what you are saying is all the talk about RadioShack being the strongest stage race team in the world is just rubbish and Lance, Bruyneel, Liggett, Sherwan, Roll, Watson are all wrong in their assessment and they wasted their time taking all the guys from Astana.

Lets see, Lance, Levi, Kloeden have all podiums in GTs, Zubeldia has a Top 5 in the Tour and Popoyvch is a former podium finisher in the Giro and Brajkovic, Machado are two up and comers yet they do not have a strong enough team for a good showing at the Giro.

The strongest stage race teams at present are Leaky gas, Saxo Astana and probably the team Valverdes on. and Euskatel euskadi. BmC. I would put Shack in *th place in April. Remember it is still April.
Tose peole you mentioned above Roll etc. are just talking heads.

He'll have to share his weight-loss program with Lance

You are a raving loon.
If the Shack don't have the depth of squad to send a team to the Giro, who the f*ck does?
They have more 3 week specialist riders than they know what to do with.
If Horner and Levi would crash at the Giro, there's no point in sending them to the Tour, is there?
Much more likely to end up sucking the tarmac, there.
The Shack way of "honouring" the Giro was to tell them to f*ck off.

When Armstrong fails at the Tour, what will they have to celebrate this season?
The way they are shaping up and the fact that they will be riding the Tour on Lance's leash: Leipheimer's compulsory California title and Seb Rossler's Tour of Algarve win.

All those big stars and one black hole.

Got that right.

They'll probably win a couple more team classification titles before the end of the year as well.

Post cancer Lance recruited JB to DS US Postal. Does anyone know why? Did the two have connections from racing and wanted to continue on a professional level? Or did the hog just know where to get the good sutff?

Whenever its pointed out that RadioShack are performing poorly in relation to there talents, the standard reply is that it doesnt really matter as its March and they are all focused on July.

Then when its pointed out that they are built around Lance in an effort to win the Tour, the reply is that is not true, they are not just focused on the Tour, they are aiming for other racse with other riders.

So which is it?

To whom are you referring? Was that directed at me, or in general.

Armstrong's crib for RvV:

read the article in dutch here

It's shared only with Tosport Vlaanderen. The RS team will bring its own water (out of fear of someone spiking his drink), they have hired security personnel with a military background, someone will be in charge of monitoring the cook's work in the kitchen and everyone will have to get a badge to enter the premises.

Hope and Awareness are so demanding. I've heard they even demanded their own motorcycle courier to carry them between events.

I hope so. Awareness was very strong last season but hasn't shown much recently, a lack of racing miles I think. Hope, however, seems to be fading quickly.

Looks like Fawlty Towers. Wonder if the old "don`t understand, I`m from Barcelona" excuse is used when the testers show up?
