I have ad nauseam in the clinic. But to be fair I shouldn’t comment. Not until Armstrong releases the full transcripts. Strangely he omits he’s responses to Landis and Kay. Not sure why when the statement reads “Armstrong has nothing to hide” – then why delete select responses?
To this point I’m not sure how the emails relate to the statement made. The statement refers to “threats” but I can’t really see any threats within the mails. I can see a man civilly from himself and friend who is Doctor wanting to ride the ToC. This is normal practice. Many riders “appeal” to race directors to ride races. I don’t see any evidence of threats in the text. If you can point me in the direction I’ll gladly read the lines which could be considered as a threat.
The statement also refers to Landis lacking credibility but then the mails acuse Landis of having having an alcoholic problem without foundation is reason for saying so. Lacking credibility is making claims such as this without evidence. I could be wrong. So the emails amount to little and have little to do with the statement presented.
I understand the approach the Armstrong camp is taking. They don’t wish to address the accusations at hand. They are attempting to discredit Landis as a person and suggesting you can’t trust what he says. He’s lied before so why should we believe him now. There we should listen to Armstrong statements in regards to Floyd at last year ToC:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUAO7xmNKeA . The appear different to what he's saying now.
So there you have it. Landis says Armstrong, himself and the entire USPS team doped from 2002-2004 and Armstrong says Landis lacks credibility because he wanted to ride the ToC. Now the burden of proof is not on Armstrong to prove he didn’t dope. Its for Landis to prove he did. The drug tests could be evidence to suggest Armstrong hasn’t. So really it’s up to round 2 and for Landis to come with more detail to substantiate the claims. I suspect that’s coming on Monday. Watch this space.
One further point. The objective of Landis was not to accuse Armstrong of doping but to admit doping himself and to inform of the practices within certain teams and the sport. Armstrong and co. are collateral damage of the original objective. The real point here is that Floyd is admitting he doped and how he doped and how he passed the tests. This is worthy information. Lets not get distracted by Armstrong. Cyclists are doping and getting away with it. Wouldn't we like to know how this is possible? and wouldn't we like to know when watching our cyclists that what they are doing is real?
