Does anyone know what the pros in general think about Armstrong. From reading/watching etc. it looks like he gets on reasonably well with many of them – Rogers, Davis, Voigt, Basso, Simeoni etc., as well as some previous greats e.g. Mercx and Lemond......

Can anyone pick the typo/s. But seriously what do the other pros in general think?

But back to the matter at hand. What does this say about the person if he reads this every day he races?

I'm thinking he's reading into his own twitter posts a bit too much!

I can't believe we've let this go!

The thread count grows :p

In reality vs going against the "Omerta"? I'm thinking there's alot of propaganda to be sorted through to get to the center of the matter. Or maybe they just obey :D

I think he gets on well with most Australians, and I expect probably most english speakers, Lemond I'm not so sure about that one

I'm sure you're right - who knows what is said and or goes on behind the scenes. But still and I'm sorry if I'm being naive but I see footage/images etc. of him getting on quite well with other well liked members of the peleton - Rogers, Voigt for eg. or are they just smiling and nodding at Al Capone? Does he really have that much power or is it simply "Omerta" implying that they may also have something to hide - which to me would be disappointing because I like the way Rogers and Voigt for instance handle themselves - both on and off the bike.

In the first issue of Pro Cycling after LA announced the comeback, one writer suggested "inside the peloton there is outrage at this announcement". I'm wondering what goes on or is said in the peloton before RAI starts broadcasting. If he's not getting a hard time from riders I doubt it's anything as sinister as Omerta. Human nature is most people avoid confrontation- it's just easier to get along with Armstrong even if deep down inside a rider hates his guts. It's also not real smart to make enemies of a team that will likely dominate the Tour.

Anyone have any idea what the heck Armstrong was trying to do on the Petrano yesterday?! Levi is cracking, so LA attacks up to the front group of favorites and drops Levi. Basso and then Sastre attacked as soon as LA bridged up, completely dropping him. At this point, he did his job and dropped back to Levi to help pace him up the climb. But why wasn't he pacing Levi the whole time? His team-mate Popovych was in first place on the road as it was and had a good shot at the stage win (but he cracked obviously). So LA effectively attacked 2 of his own team-mates instead of immediately pacing Leipheimer, his teams only rider with a chance at the GC. Gee I wonder why people hate this guy?

Good point. Remember Armstrong joining the breakaway that included Simeoni in the TdF:mad:

I can't stand the guy, but I don't think he was willfully doing this to harm his teammates. I think it was just according to plan, but a **** poor plan, that's all. I believe what they tried to do was send Popo up the road to make others work, then have Lance set a fast pace with Levi following, and ride everyone off their wheels. But it didn't work, at all. Lance wasn't fast enough, and Levi was quickly dropped.

It would have made much more sense to me to send Lance up the road early on a break. That would have caused a lot more concern by the others to chase, leaving Levi and Popo to follow their wheels. But that has never been Lance's style, and I don't know that he'd want to risk cracking like that on TV and losing a lot of time.

OR

Since Levi can't seem to drop anyone or ever climb faster than any others, he should have been the one that attacked some 80k from the finish (like Landis, Hinault, Fuente, etc.). That far from the end it's unlikely they would have chased immediately, and maybe, just maybe, he could have stayed out better than Popo did and gain back time. And even if he couldn't he would have at least tried his best and failed spectacularly. But for all of their talk about not settling for a podium and be more willing to finish 10th than 2nd, they employed the most predictable, and most risk averse strategy, and it completely, utterly failed.

I agree with you about Popo being up the road Alpe - I actually think that was a very good tactical decision by JB. With Popo in the break Astana doesn't have to pull all day, and it also puts Popo in position for either a possible stage win or being well positioned to help Leipheimer on the final climb.

But the team came apart on the final climb. And I don't understand why Armstrong wasn't pacing Leipy the whole time up the last climb; again Popo is already up the road and LA is at the base of the climb behind the favorites and not in a position to do anything except pace LL.

I admit I have been enjoying his livestrong videos. Leipheimer looks up to him like a father....or at least appears to do so.

I do hate the way he has to point out EVERY member of staff in EVERY one of his videos so people can see how down to earth he is knowing everybodies names...oh lance.

His Brajkovic interview was hilariously awkward. That kid really keeps himself to himself.

Brajkovic looked like he was scared and it was the first time he had ever talked to Lance.

I almost want to go to livestrong.com just to watch the Brajkovic clip, but I just can't bring myself to up his hit count even by a single unique visitor. I would also have to take another shower today, and I just want to relax tonight.
