Born on Christmas Day 1990, he's a gift to a cycling world which desperately needed a new hero.

As a neo-pro, he wins Trofeo Laigueglia in February and Rund um den Finanzplatz Eschborn-Frankfurt in May, he's second at Trofeo Melinda and then third in the opneing prologue of the 2012 Tour de Suisse (only a few seconds behind world class riders Peter Sagan and Fabian Cancellara).

Time has come. Be prepared for the domination.

Meet Moreno Moser.

I can see Moser and Sagan creating all sorts of havoc for teams next year. Liquigas must be thinking they have won lotto or something.

Is Moser riding the Vuelta? I hope so.

I heard Moser will ride Colorado which isn't much to be enthusiastic about, but will he ride the Canadian 1 day races? That should be interesting if he did.

The parcours for the Canadian races suit him very well :D and at least it will give us some excitement in Colorado. Moser & Atapuma destroying the field!

He's not riding the Vuelta. I don't think he's ready for three week racing at the moment.

As posted above, he will ride Colorado. We still don't know much about his schedule from then on.

So USA Pro Challenge about to start tomorrow.
Will Moreno be comfortable with the altitude? What can we expect from him?
It's been almost a month without racing.

I don't expect anything from him there... as you said, it's been a month without racing. I guess he'll use that race as a warm up.

I didn't watch the race in Quebec today, but I'm checking the rankings and he's not even in the top80. I read the comments on the live topic and he wasn't even able to help Sagan during the race.

It's been almost two months since Pologne and he's been invisible in almost every race he's ridden from then on (not many btw).

At this point it's hard to predict he could be a factor in the Worlds. Does anybody know anything more?

What do you expect from him in the Worlds? Has he proved anything in a race of 250 km with all top class riders?

I like him though.

I never thought he could contend.
But be of help to the italian selection, yes. He's a good time trialist, has punch, can get in a break or pull the peloton as a dom. But at the current form I'm not even sure he's worth a selection.

Nibali had very few race days before the National Champs, he was clearly far from his peak (TdF). And apart from him, the competition wasn't particularly strong.
It's true Moreno can handle the long distances if in top form. Probably not at top level just yet.

He said himself yesterday that he's not feeling good due to the travelling and jet lag.
I'm not worried for the worlds (not yet), in two weeks a rider (especially if he's young) can reach top form (How weak was Nibali two weeks before tdf?)

Thing is he hasn't improved since returning to racing a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping he would show something here in Canada.

It's not like Italy has better candidates than him
He surely knows his preparation better than us. Let's just wait and see. :)

You probably know I disagree on that one :D
I really hope Moreno can manage to get in good shape for the Worlds anyway.

Lo Squalo. I have sort of blind faith in him.
I see :D Actually I meant there are no better candidates than Moser to be the free rider of the team. It would be foolish to make him the leader, that's Nibali.
PS: As much as I like Lo Squalo, I really don't see him winning that. Maybe podium.

lo squalo is in great shape.
in padania he was playing, he was so superior to anyone in climbs.
but he has to arrive alone to win and that is very very difficult.
three days again in merate he arrived with gatto and the sprint was uneventful....ok, you can say that there was an agreement , gc for nibali and stage for gatto, but nibali even in a small bunch sprint will have a lot of problems.

F*ck me for overreacting yesterday.

And sorry to my neighbours cause I've been screaming the whole last 600 metres when Moreno closed the gap to Kolobnev :D Just Nordhaug too strong. But we have another card for the Worlds!
