It's 3X the canoas-vista chinesa loop...
Canoas is hard but the 3km after the little downhill is very easy(3-4%).. than the descent and then that is the flat fast 10km to the finish with only 2 90o turns... No purito i guess...
If someone in the break, has to go at least as late as 2nd time up Canoas, Pantano/Dumoulin/Costa/Cummins and MANY others...
If from the group someone that can really explode one the hard part of Canoas, keep up on the easy part, descend well enough and, most importantly, TT 10Km to the end.. Kiwa like..
I think Valverde/Alla will "wait' to the last up Canoas will follow(try to) anyone to sprint in the finish.....
hoping from the break scenario but looks good for Froome...

Final 15 kilometers are flat so there will be attacks. This will be interesting.

I see a two man sprint between Thomas and Valverde

I have a suspicion that Chaves may be worth a wee wager.

He's not on the front row of betting and, at this point, hasn't the one day CV of older riders although last year's Lombardie suggests he may contend in some such races in future. He climbs as well as any, descends better than most and does have a reasonable kick in a small bunch at the finish.

Although I want Valverde to win, he will find the way to screw it up by his lack of tactical sense or aggressiveness.

Surely Yates will be GB's backup plan after Froome, not Thomas?

Obvious Thomas win. I mean how many Tour Down Under points jerseys has Valverde won?

Colombia has no chance imho. Great climbers, but no good on the flat, easily chased down by the rest.

Going over the top first is crucial. Many guys will be more than happy to medal at the Olympics, regardless of the colour, instead of risking it to chase gold

Believe that Henao is the chosen rider. Note that Chavez has not ridden since the Giro.

Him and Quintana almost seems better coming off a trip to Colombia, he was money early on in the Vuelta last year. I wouldn't worry about the races, rather him maybe trying to peak 3 weeks later.

Kwiatko. Easy. I would say it is taylormade for him. Probably the fastest out of them and Majka will easily get him through the difficult part.

Very good in TT for last 30 km.

Can handle 250 km easily.

Top favorit for me.

The course is too hard for Alaphilippe if raced at a reasonable pace, let alone Kwiat

I can't see beyond Cummings. Get in the early break, leave it with 100k to go and he's gone forever.

Did you look at the course?... It's too hard for him.
