Bayern lands Guardiola. Nice:D

I think this announcement has taken the entire football world by surprise. It is known that Cruijff likes and approves the way Bayern is run as a club, and that Pep listens to Cruijff. I, for one, am delighted that he didn't wind up going to Chel$ki or Citeh!

Indeed, it is well known that Messi and Pep are 'nice guys' in the world of football, whereas Mou and CR are arrogant pr!cks. Everyone knows that.:p

As for your clip, I am reliably informed by a Spanish friend (I don't understand enough Spanish) that what happened here was that CR inadvertently bumped into Pep, which is why he turned around. There was apparently no question of an offered hand being rejected. But let's not let the truth get in the way of bashing a team you hate, eh?

He could have gone after Chelsea for some compensation if he had kept quiet. He's blown it now.

Oh God, LOL, I mean I lost all sympathy for him given he was obviously time wasting and then appealing to the ref and exaggerating the pain but boasting about the fact he was going to do it pre-game tops it.

I would have brought this topic up today anyway, but the fact that it will annoy TFF is just such a major bonus.

My Ajax all but mathematically assured themselves of the Dutch title today by beating PSV away, while both other 'contenders', Feyenoord and Vitesse blew their chances. A wonderful day, and with a bit of luck, PSV will miss out on second spot too, which means they'll miss out on CL money, which means they'll be financially even more ****ed. :D

Ajax haven't done too badly this year, when you consider that two of their CL group opponents are in the CL semis.

Meanwhile, my Hammers have secured two points from two hard away games and should just about be safe on 38 pts. Life is good.

Exciting times for West Ham ahead with the Olympic Stadium now confirmed, unless that publicity stunt Barry Hearn has something to do about it.

I would of watched PSV-Ajax but for the FA semi-final. Is there a better all round midfield player in England than Yaya Toure? Not for me.

While it's good to see Ajax winning the league again(delighted for Bergkamp especially), I do fear for them with regards to holding on to some of their players. Eriksen has spoken of the possibility of leaving in the summer and Alderweireld who I think is an excellent ball playing centre back has been linked heavily with moves as well with Anzhi being mentioned. He also referred to Liverpool as a possibility. It would be a shame if it happens because they have put a nice team together. They survived the departures of Vertonghen and Suarez so I hope they could do it again if it came to it. From what I've seen Moisander has been an adequate replacement for Vertonghen when he signed from AZ for instance. Fischer too is an excellent prospect. I seen him for Denmark U-17s in the Euros a couple of years ago and he stood out hugely.

Will have to look at the Eredivisie round-up to see how the game went.

On a sidenote, I spotted Van Marwijk at Amstel Gold today in the organiser's car talking to Francesco Moser.

First of all I didn't see the game tonight but Van Persie's hat-trick to clinch the title further rubs the salt into Arsenal' wounds.

He was right to leave as he lost total faith in the Wenger project. I have lost faith in Wenger too. So did Fabregas and Nasri and in the end can you blame them. On Sunday it will be the final insult to fans as a guard of honour awaits United as they arrive out on the pitch. Wenger and the Arsenal board deserve all this to be rubbed into their face as their policy over the last few years have inevitably led to this. My wish would be to see Wenger go now and this isn't something that has just come on in the spur of the moment, it has been my opinion for some time. Just recently he said Champions League qualification is a trophy and it's more important than the FA Cup and League Cup. Can you imagine him saying that at any other club? I don't think he would say it in the first place as he knows he wouldn't last 5 mins with a mentality like that anywhere else. All he does with nonsense like this, is spin-doctor his way out of his many failures and try to make out the last 8 years have been a success. Like hell they have. £7m a year for Wenger to achieve his "trophy" of Champions League and for mediocre signings on a regular basis - Giroud, Park, Santos, Benayoun, Chamakh, Squillaci and I wouldn't call Podoski either a resounding success. Arsenal's wage bill now is around a staggering £155m and their highest earner is Walcott at about 90-100 grand a week. Yet United a couple of years ago had a wage bill of £153m when they won the league in 2011 and had Rooney on over £200,000 a week. This should show this mis-management of club finances Wenger has been responsible for. Wenger talks about being in favour of socialist policy. Look where this has got us. Overpaid failures like Bendtner, Park, Denilson, Djourou, Santos, Chamakh cannot be shifted due to lesser clubs not being able to afford it. Arsenal in the end have to loan out while still paying the bulk of the wages. As a result of this top players like Fabregas, RVP and Nasri are underpaid for the quality they have. Wenger is not being managed by the board and he can do as he pleases and they see no wrong in what he is doing. You still get some fans who back him but to me they are blinded by their unconditional love for Wenger. No other conclusion but to say it's over and enough is enough.

And then we have a owner in Kroenke who doesn't go to a game from one end of the week to the other. No wonder fans get disillusioned with the game. I often wondered why should I be worried about all this when the owner himself doesn't even have a care in the world what goes on and is in it for all the wrong reasons. We see Usmanov named as the richest man in Britain this week and goes to as many games as he can. In many interviews he has criticised the current boards policy but Kroenke and the board in all their wisdom won't engage with him whatsoever.

Yup, we've been wondering why we bothered to take Chamakh on loan. He's made one or two brief sub appearances, and that's it. We're delighted with mid-table safety our first season back, and have serious prospects of reaching the giddy heights of ninth!

Van Persie's second tonight was a top drawer classic, one of the sweetest strikes of the ball you'll ever see, a serious goal of the season contender.

Not for me to speculate about what's gone tits up with Wenger's grand scheme, but it certainly looks like a change would do the club good. Look what a sudden change of manager has done for the Mackems?:p

Ajax dropped a clanger last Friday by only drawing at home to Heerenveen, so the lead has been reduced to four points, which still has to be enough. It was cool seeing De Boer, Van Basten and Bergkamp on the sidelines!

edit - here ya go, Gooner.

I didn't want to see any of the goals but many were eulogising about it so decided to have a look at the link you provided.

Credit where it's due, it's a great first time strike and this is a particular strength of his. He got a similar goal like this before when Song played the ball and he scored another volley low into the corner against Everton.

He's the best player in England for the last 2 and a half years ever since he came back fully fit from constant injuries in Dec 2010.

I have no issue with him leaving, just the way he went about it. That statement where he slagged off the club to force the move was one. I never understood why he did that even though it was true. He was still going to get his move either way as no way Arsenal could leave his contract run down.

The second one is an article in The Financial Times where a Dutch journalist wrote a piece about RVP. The journalist by name Henk Spaan(you might know him in Holland) is a guy who is very close to RVP and it was obvious he was fed all this information by RVP to go off and publish his story. Many Arsenal fans were livid with this last year just before Euro 2012. Captain of the club and he feeds a buddy journalist info where he slags off his teammates. Not on, just not on at all even if the players aren't good enough.

Arsenal’s recent signings have not convinced. Andrey Arshavin was expensive, inefficient and unpopular in the dressing room, Marouane Chamakh a mistake, Gervinho inadequate for the Premier League. And manager Arsène Wenger’s protection of the young midfielder Aaron Ramsey, with his deficient view of the game and meagre statistics (only two goals and four assists all season), doesn’t help much either.

I remember he once tried to persuade the club to buy Van der Vaart and Afellay and he wasn't happy when Wenger didn't do so. Again I would have liked to have seen either player and it beggars belief how Wenger would turn down the chance to get players like this and then sign Gervinho and co. Nevertheless no matter how good he is, no player should have the right to dictate transfer policy. Looking at all this I wasn't surprised to see the Dutch journalist also write about this.

On the positive side, Wenger did buy the playmaker Mikel Arteta, who within six months has become a true Arsenal player, the bedrock of their passing game. Incidentally, instead of Ramsey in midfield, Arsenal could have had Van Persie’s compatriot Rafael van der Vaart. “Would you like to come and play for us?” Van Persie had asked him. Van der Vaart, then out of favour at Real Madrid, had not believed his ears. With Van der Vaart on the left, Van Persie would know exactly when and where to expect the ball. Unfortunately, Wenger didn’t believe in Van der Vaart, even though he would have cost just £8m – peanuts when compared with Arshavin’s £15m. Van der Vaart joined Arsenal’s arch-rivals, Spurs, in 2010 and has since scored four goals against Arsenal. In one game at White Hart Lane, he put the ball through the legs of his opposite number at Arsenal, Jack Wilshere, twice in 10 seconds, then stuck out his tongue at him.

Many of a club wouldn't touch him with a barge pole due to his disciplinary problems at Feyenoord where he was having bust-ups with players over taking free-kicks and Van Marwijk the manager. He also tried it on at Arsenal at the start where he nearly got sent off in a League Cup game against United only to do so shortly afterwards against Southampton. Wenger lashed out at him publicly and this is something Wenger never if rarely ever does. Plenty of managers would of ditched him that first season. His first game was against Everton in the League and he wasn't on the bench and he was ready to go to Wenger's office the following day and demand answers for his omission. Bergkamp had to get a hold of him to stop him and tell his Arsenal career would have been a short one if he was to do so. He also had his problems with Van Basten shortly after joining us. Van Basten demoted him to the u-21s as he didn't like his application or attitude in training. Yet Wenger stayed loyal through this and the many injuries and didn't deserve to be treated the way he did by RVP in the end.

What to expect tomorrow, after an evening like this?

A more competitive game, hopefully. Tonight was neither a great spectacle, nor a great game. The result, and how it came about, were certainly major surprises. Bayern were the only team in it and clearly thoroughly deserved their win, though I think 4-0 was a little on the high side. Barca have no chance in the return, and I hope that Bayern go on to win - not because I like them, but because they deserve to win, just as they should have won last year.

Having said that, it was yet another utterly disgraceful performance by a referee in a game of major importance. Six of the last eight CL games have featured goals that should not have stood! There are SIX ****ing officials around the pitch, ffs!!

The second goal tonight was a tricky offside, but should have been seen by the lino, who was right there. The sixth idiot behind the goal even looked towards him questioningly. That the third goal was allowed to stand after Mueller's blatant body-check on Alba was simply jaw dropping. Bayern also had two claims for ball-to-hand in the area, one of which might have been given. Alba might have seen red for chucking the ball in Robben's face, but the ref probably thought he had it coming.:p

Mourinho could stop German dominance.
But I'm not sure I want to see him in that role.

I didn't like even the idea of him being Real's coach... Makes labor team of something what should be glamorous.
I would support him breaking the German dominance in any other team, and I'd support Real without him, but together they don't make of Real what it should be.

I don't know how much truth there is in all this but The Telegraph are saying Wenger could be about to leave for PSG. If so, I would wish him all the best and thank him for the good times he has given the club these past 16 years. The relationship has gone a bit stale and it needs a freshening up to give the club and fans a huge lift going forward. Wenger needs a new challenge for himself as well and I think this could be a good move all round. He has only one year left on contract and I think if he was to stay, Arsenal are still not going to win anything next year so it would be better to leave now and take up the challenge of PSG where he will have the full backing from the Qatar owners to achieve his aim of Champions League victory. Whatever happens he has been brilliant for English football and deserves huge respect for his contribution in his time there.
