@foxxybrown, still better than what you call football.. where you throw the ball with your hands most of the time, and it's still called football. And every 10 seconds the game has to be stopped because of something..

Yop, like in soccer. Only that we have real time keeping, not juding by the ref who basically decided the game going into overtime... And I thought a game is 90 mins by rules

Anyway, I was big soccer fan and player too... until I found the greatness of real football

To the game: Beautiful goal by Ramos. Exactly in the right spot. Awesome skill...

I have watched am.football, especially superbowl... but I find a 0-0 match in our football more interesting than that sport

I love basketball and baseball tho... those are real nice sports

Might be because of the rules? As beginner it´s difficult, thus thinking the game is boring. Was lazy too at start, then I crasped it. Got simple... and then you have it. Comebacks unimaginable in soccer, lead changes en masse, no time shaving, pretending injuries, etc.

Goal 2-1 game over. Best team won (even tough with the help of the ref prolonging the game)

Good overtime. Games should always be played 120 mins since players get tired, thus leading to more goals and chances. OTOH, that might lead to more influence of guys like Fuentes... May Real just had the better docs.

Ronaldo, arrogant and else, but 17 goals in 11 games is crazy. That´s like Gerd Müller. Hats up.

Real finishing with 41-10 goals in 13 games. Must be a modern day record...
Deserved win (if regulation would be 95 mins and not 90 officially ;))

Feel sorry for atletico. Every disadvantage and still they almost won and would have been deserved.

Shame Casillias mistakes never cost him.
Ronaldo lucky he got that penalty. Lord knows he would rather have lost than win without being on the scoresheet.

At least it's going to hurt mourinho. The second he lives real the best again.

What are you talking about? Have you ever heard of extra-time?

________

Real was better in the entire second half + 30 extra minutes so no way Atletico deserved it.

4-1 is harsh on Atletico.

I was hoping for Atletico to win but from a Madrid point of view, I'm happy mainly for Ancelotti who's a proper football man. You don't see him getting mixed up in this mind games nonsense or behaving disgracefully like some other top managers have done in the past.

I think he's a credit to the game and it's no bad thing seeing a man like him succeed in the game.

Hard to know how will Atletico do from here next season. Costa will more than likely be at Chelsea as well as Courtois's and Koke's futures in the balance. I would say they will be a distant 3rd next season to the big two. The budget difference is too big and you'll likely only see seasons like this with a club outside of the big two in Spain in isolation. Hope I'm wrong though.

That Redknapp had some luck on his side today. Completely outplayed in the 2nd half but nicked it at the very end. Felt for Richard Keogh who's mistake gifted the chance to Zamora for the goal. He was in bits at the end and overall he had a great season with Derby and as well as getting called into the Irish squad in the last year. That's a tough experience to overcome.

Yop, just lately again, in todays game...
You know, if intelligent men would rule FIFA instead of corrupted neanderthals, you would actually have a great sport.
Not the ref would decide by chance if a game goes 91,92... or 95 mins; no smart rules would: Just simply stop the clock when the game is interrupted. Thus no faking injuries, no debates with refs, no time shaving, but a fairer game. On top of that, change the offside rule, then at least 2/3 of wrong decisions would vanish. The influence of the ref greatly reduced, and the game would be like it was meant to be: Players deciding the game.

Simple, isn´t it?
Throw Blatter and his buddies to Guantanamo, and soccer could be great.

You think the referee decides by chance what the extra time will be? The ref uses two digital watches one in each pulse: one is used to time the actual duration of each half (or added time); the other is used to temporize the amount of time the game is stopped. Once the 45 minutes of each half are reached, the ref adds the amount of time accounted while the game was interrupted for whatever reason it was.

It's not like the referee adds the time he wants to the game... Extra time is objective.

So you wanna tell me, the ref stops the clock on every little time shaving trick? If he would, there would be no faking injuries. I mean that is simple logic, isn´t it?
BTW, one clock would be enough to worry about, then he could actually follow all the little dirty tricks going on on the pitch...
Every sport (outside of Handball, another crappy sport because of silly rules) managed to simply stop the clock on interuptions. It´s no rocket science...
P.S.: Real time would be great for fans too. They actually would know how long the game actually is, seeing it on big letters on the stadium clock. No guessing game anymore...

In no way is Ronaldo's build (six pack and all) natural. That guy has been doped to the gills.

And the extreme stamina of top clubs like Real, Man City etc is unreal and laughable.
But hey, FIFA says there's nothing to see here and it's all clean :D

If by faking injuries you mean players diving and pathetically lie around like they were shot, that is a cheating tecnique used often to draw a card - yellow or red - to the opponent. Sometimes, when the acting is too fussy, players cannot simply get back up like nothing happened, and are asked to leave the pitch for a few moments.

Other times, when in a deffending position, players will pretend an injury to break the game's pace and interrupt the opponent's offencive initiative.

Talking about football obviously. Also, it isn't easy for the ref to see what is on the pitch. On TV we get to see a play from almost every angle and make judgments the referee sometimes cannot.

Agree. Always said this: Cycling being the scapegoat, the little basterd to point fingers at to distract attention from the worst of them all, corrupted FIFA soccer that is...

Look I won´t take away from the game. Great skills were displayed today. I was a longtime fan and player. But FIFA forced me out of it. The 2010 WC was the low point...
Start anew, and may even north americans would fall in love (I am talking of the non immigrants of lately), me old german guy would be back...
Rules could be simply changed a little with major improvements. All tactical fouls, faked injuries, wrong offsides, time shaving could be erased... it might even lead to higher scoring, thus reducing the "major one bad moment impact", more comebacks (not only 5% for teams being down one score at halftime), more excitement...

I realized earlier in the game that atletico never put anyone on the post. It cost them in the end. Seems to be just the way they defend though. In the last minute probably should have people there though.
