I'll say it. I'm actuallly enjoying watching an Allardyce team play this season.

Weat Ham had their recruitment spot on in the summer.

Song was superb.

Imagine how surprised we are!:p We are indeed fun to watch this season, what a stupendous difference Song and Sakho have made to the team. Valencia Mk.2 ain't bad either.

I also expect a small Real win.

I said it up thread months back, Barca got their defensive signings all wrong. I know Mathieu well from his Valencia and Toulouse days and while he's decent, he's not Barca quality. He's nearly 31 and he has struggled to even get in France squads over the years.. Secondly, you can't sign Vermaelen when he was injured especially as he has a history of problems maintaining his fitness.

Don't read anything into that clean sheet record, Eibar were creating many chances in the Nou Camp last week. Pique has been playing below his level for the past two years. They didn't address the defensive issues well enough in the summer.

There's a staleness in midfield. Xavi and Iniesta aren't breaking through the lines carrying the ball as Guardiola used to demand and say to them. Everything is played in front of well organised defences for large spells in games.

On Luis Enrique, I worry about his authority like last week asking Messi did he want to come off against Eibar. Messi refused and he took off Neymar instead. That wouldn't happen with any top manager worth their salt.

Plenty for them to ponder. Two big tests today and against PSG, they have faltered.

Madrid have a far more cutting edge in their play and are consistently brilliant on the counter. Kroos and Modric for me, are the best partnership in midfield in Europe.

Premier League title race already over. Only hope is if Man City exit Europe totally and have all their players focus only on league.

I'm beginning to think that myself. It could be simliar to the second title Mourinho won with Chelsea and the one Ferguson had with United in his last season. With the latter season mentioned, City are looking now like they are mirroring the poor one with Mancini from that year. It could be a complete borefest in the end.

Well, Real won, so I didn't miss anything

edit: I heard Barça survived the first storm and were in total control when Real got that penalty. Plain stupid from Piqué.

Im not going to criticise Mathieu,at least not for yesterday.Sorry for the term, but the defense is ****ing bull****.Im a fan of Barca, but these days I almost hope for they losses in order to be completely rebuild and Im furstrated cuz this is not gonna happen any soon.

Agree with the clean sheet thing. You can see this with high quality teams (real, psg, ajax), the defensive midfield and all defense is wrong, at least Bravo is solid imho.
The messi gate...man the coach doesnt have any respect or something, and messi does bs for almost a year (I thought he had bad season last year, but look at this)

And iniesta+xavi style in playmaking...ghhrrr...

nahh, more or less yeah.but you could see that coming from the beginning, the defense is not good enough against Real counter-attacks.

Barca fan?

Of course ;) since the Ronaldinho-Eto'o-young Messi combo and then The Dream Team obviously. Pure poetry.
:)
I probably never recovered after Rijkaard departure, I was such a fan of that team that I couldnt believe its gone. Late season 2009 I get used to it a bit, but never was so amazed by Guardiola style, like I said I dont like iniesta-xavi duo.

From 2012 the hell began, **** fabregas, new players who tried to 'strenghtened' this style of play.Decline began and it continues, until they fire xavi, iniesta (messi) and hire new great coach with a new vision.Thats why I was so fvcking mad about neymar transfer,I knew this style is complete opossite to his strenghts,I almost wanted his tranfer to Real  (ofc I dont like Real) where his strenghts would have been used 100%.

Yeah, I fully understand, but after winning the CL in 2006, the team went down very quickly unfortunately. In Rijkaard's last year, it was a disgrace how they played.

I was a huge fan of the Guardiola team. That was some of the most amazing football I can't believe there has ever been a better team. For the first 2-3 years at least, because since then it became super boring.

I barely watch football anymore since 2012, but I guess you're right about Xavi-Iniesta-Messi. I was never that much of a fan of Xavi anyway. World class midfielder, but heavily overrated due to Barça system. Messi is annoying as hell these days, I have no clue what happened to him through those years. Same story with Ronaldinho I guess. Did incredible things for the team, but needed to leave so Barça could revive and build their team around fresh and hungry players. Iniesta is awesome though, he can adapt to every style of play.

On the transfer ban, that's where the signings of Douglas and Hallilovic come in. Investing in youth in the summer along with giving Munir, Sandro and Rafinha opportunities. They can always recall Suarez and Deulofeu from Sevilla at the end of the season. Suarez is an impressive player from what I've seen. This is the route they'll probably go down in the next couple of years.

I'd like to see Rafinha be given more playing time.

Sure, it's going to be interesting that they'll have to use their youngsters.
But as far as I see it they are not close producing anything like a world class CB soon. They can't react if stuff goes seriously wrong - even Bayern nowadays spends 30+ million a season on single players.

But well, I have no love left for them anyway. The club with it's history being a propaganda tool for Quatar... it's just disgusting.

But I've also been impressed by Suarez, from the few games I've seen he seems to be a very deep lying build up player. I did't pay that much attention to his defensive position and pressing ability though. His pressing resistance seems to be very Barca like though. Still, Xavi and Iniesta are not getting younger, especially Xavi. And as much as I think of Rakitic, he's not on their lever, not even close at all.

They did that last year when they managed not to get eliminated in the group. ;)

It's going to be very interesting to see what happens with Barca when they might actually be excluded from transfers the next seasons.
thats too harsh;) (you Untd fan :p)

I think he plays quite often if Im not mistaken, ...but yeah the Alves side with messi is annoying as hell.

Looks like Van Gaal can't salvage the wreck which is now United, £150m flushed down the toilet, maybe this strategy of high spending is not for them or they need to spend more to get it working:D

He can't do anything about Smalling being an idiot with the yellow cards. Would have been nice to see both teams at full power to assess the quality of Man United. Before the red card they were not worse than City.

However, I can't see why he didn't spend more money on defense. I'm not convinced by Rojo, and I've doubts whether Blind is good enough to be United's DM. Weak defense overall.

Maybe DM and CB stars are already with the baggage at the door, waiting the next transfer window to boost United defense, well at least i hope so.
