But the "pure climber" mantra is old school isn't it? I mean sport science knows it's a matter of watts per kilogram. They thus must work on optimalization. It's useless to point on the Tour if the factors aren't propitious. But to be there you have to get the balance right, ie, weight per kg. They would do well to risk a bit in the TT to gain more in the mountains.What he accomplished is also merit from Quick step. They developed him really well since he was young.
Quick step have a good staff, and today he already showed better indications, but like i said, people should the expectations around him in terms of Grand Tours. He is in the right track for the Tour, and peak in the last week.
He said he wanted to do top 5 and win some stages.
He will be more of one day racer in the future and specialist in Time trials, like he already is, and in Grand Tours he will do good results, but he will not be as dominant as can be in one day races and Time trials, because he will never be a pure climber.
