Well I'd be surprised if he goes that long. But his palmares are incredible for a 24-year-old.
He is set up perfectly in Portugal.. When asked about his view about the race overall, after the win, Wout kept things in perspective and said that Remco is well positioned with the TT, and threw in, his is the TT world champion. The hope for everyone else is Remco having an off day and it's relatively short distance, so for some of the best the damage may only be 2,3 seconds per kilometer..many of the best ITT riders have faster times (30-40k distance) have faster first half times than the finishing second half. And today Remco received many gifts w other teams bringing back the break and his squad worked but nothing compared to other teams, not a full rest day but he was hidden away for most of the day

Remco might be a bit angry at Martinez now. In next mountain finish he may take it out on him in a beastly fashion. Just a thought.
Why would he be mad. Martinez was just faster to the bend. Whoever got there first was going to win. I also don't agree with Evenepoel's analysis. Had he waited longer he would have had even less chance to beat Martinez. If anything, he should have gone sooner. If you watch the final again, you'll see Martinez actually started his sprint at the same time, he was just a bit faster to that bend.

Would you be kind and explain the difference?
Those 1-2kg less on Evenepoel would result in loss of approx. 30 sec or even more in that remaining 28.2 km if I understood correctly..?
Like Logic said, Evenepoel came in a little heavier than Vuelta weight for the TTs and it to come off for the mountains as they didn’t think it would be that hard. It’s also a 20 min effort vs 60 mins, that plays a part as well. Then it could have been the second TT but didn’t this one have some wind.

For the Worlds he had the weight to compete on a flat almost 50 km TT. Roglic fans like to compare it to his Gold TT win when it’s not considering that course was hilly.

I love how Evenepoel came in heavier to the Giro than the 2022 Vuelta for endurance or whatever then he came to Vuelta in 2023 and suddenly it explains the collapse.

It only makes sense if Evenepoel is a quantum particle in a superposition that's simultaneously too heavy and too light.
I love how a mod gets to troll this forum with figments of his imagination for years and no action is taken.

That rainbow kit slides through the air REALLY well!
Congrats RE!

That's why he didn't win on the climb against Martinez. Otherwise he would've had to wear the ugly yellow jersey.

He needs to lose 4 kg before the Tour
I hope Soudal know what they are doing, although frankly their track record leaves me with some doubt. When he faces Skeletor, Pog and Rog at le Tour, you gotta see less pecks and more ribs and an ascetic looking face. AND have full power! On the other hand, if this Remco is riding so well and only in the first phase of a long build-up towards July, then he's gonna be super later on down the road.
