He needs to win UEC Road race this year. I want him to win that one more than any other non-GT victory.
I know it's not considered that big of a win. But it would make for one special palmares.

If he was on a good day, able to push the wanted watts and find a good rythm, he would’ve been in aero position. And its not like he would’ve done the recon in competition pace and therefore known that his form is *** and that he couldnt do it.
Yes of course he would have known he doesn't have the legs for that, and he should have gone for a lighter bike if you can't push your watts.

Bad winter is clearly showing now. I really don't understand why he so hard wanted to peak for the Ardennes classics. Not only was that bad, and now TDF is already over after 2 weeks because of his shitty base. Don't expect much at the end of the season either. Just another lost season
Trouble is he will never beat Vingegaard or Pogacar, so you do have to question whether the GT focus makes that much sense...

He suffered a lot today. The podium looks far away even if he is still marginally third now. I wish him a lot of strength and the firm decision to leave SOQ.

Apart from Mas and Jorgenson (and thats a stretch anyway), non of the other contenders for a podium gained time on him. So thats for sure an overly negative view. Should still be on of the favourites for the remaining podium spot.
Do you still think he'll get a podium?
I could see after the first couple of stages that he wasn't up to it this year.

Second time he’s gone too hard too fast after a bad injury and paid the price. Making that mistake two times out of two is indefensible.

Having said that, it maybe could have worked if he’d done the Vuelta rather than the Tour.

If that's the point he will never beat pogacar or van der poel as well in classics unless both of them don't show up. It's the Focus on TDF that doesn't make much sense actually.

He wasnt this bad in Dauphine

He just cooked from the long first week?

Soon as they hit the mountains and it is warm... he is rapidly getting worse

Shows the importance of the winter consdering he got heavily injured in April last year and peaked for the TdF completely fine.

He was back racing two months after that crash, whereas he took four months to start his season after this winter's crash. That's a big, big difference.

Checking back the tape from after the first time check, Remco actually spent a bit more time in the TT position than Vingegaard.

The writing was on the wall in the Dauphine when he was no match for Lipowitz in the mountains. I think he'll rally to some extent but he's not going to win the white jersey.

And I think an even bigger problem is they don’t even recognize it. They don’t see that this was a problem, that they made a mistake. With the idea “well it’s Evenepoel we’ve seen him do remarkable things it’s not the same as for a normal rider”. It’s just plain dumb.
