Maxiton said:I agree with the bolded bit. I think the point is obvious. Obvious to all, that is, whose agenda isn't hatred of Armstrong. (Which of course excludes most of the active participants in this forum.)
You may not like Armstrong. You may have good reason for not liking him. But he played the same game his competitors played, and raced the same races, and if they could have beaten him they would have. Did he pay off the UCI? Most likely. But if they were taking bribes from Armstrong, they wouldn't stop with him. If they were in the bribe taking business, you can bet they had more than one customer.

"I don't have anything to say ... I've perused it," Armstrong said of the report.
Armstrong is racing at the Tour Down Under and says the spectre of the government investigation does not bother him.
"I'm fine - I don't have anything to worry about on any level, it has nothing to do with what's going on overseas," he said when asked about his mood.

Since the 50% HT rule was put into play, the purpose of blood doping has not been to raise HT levels, but to keep them from falling during the latter stages of a GT.

Managed to download the article on my phone. That's some good stuff in there, the early stuff especially. I wonder if Floyd knew about the 9.0:1 T/E ratio......no wonder he was p....d off.

please give me something other than "he said she said from convicted liars, frauds and purgeors"....until then, enough already...I mean c'mon, again another whole expose and story but note one fact, one shread of proof beyond more Floydlies.......
The funny thing about this whole exercise.... it is just like statistics..... you can data mine until you find the data set that will give you the desired result. Then, present it as a new finding in the hope some sucker sinks his teeth into it and like Pavlov's Dog sits there and nods his head in agreement because some poor schlep snookered him on a skewed data set.....It is sad that we let "sources with knowledge of the government’s investigation" speak freely but yet they don't have the stones to identify themselves... C'mon brother... if you got the goods ... let's see you and your evidence for what they are worth. My guess is they know the data set is skewed and they are looking for the sucker ... enter SI. Anyone notice that Floyd slithered off into sunset today ... ???
None of it matters - doped, not doped, truth or lies. This is all about the bottom line. Selling magazines, coincidently, as LA races in Australia. And why did Landis come out now and retire? I'd love to see the planning that went on for that SI article and for the timing of publication. Think they decided to do it now last month, last summer, a year ago? It is all very sad. It doesn't really matter whether Lance doped on not, because either way the whole thing just shows how greedy and deceitful people can be. Someone is lying (or they all are) and people are profiting from it, or at least attempting to profit.
So, in the grand scheme of things I really don't think it matters in the least whether or not Lance doped.
While I get your larger point ... the PEDs are banned substances within the sport ... I don't believe they are illegal in the broader social sense. I can buy EPO, take it, tell my cycling friend who is also a police officer ... he'll tell me I am stupid, but he won't arrest me.
