In the end we all know he doped, even the fanboys know he doped, but hes always got the "i help cancer sufferers" to fall back on. Thats what i want taken away.

With this part of the SI story...
Of the results that could be found, "three stand out," SI reports: "a 9.0-to-1 ratio from a sample collected on June 23, 1993; a 7.6-to-1 from July 7, 1994; and a 6.5-to-1 from June 4, 1996.

You just may get your wish, if this raises the suspicions around what may have contributed to his cancer in the first place.

My question is...Since they apparently found PEDs at Popovich's house then why isn't he suspended?

I'm guessing that no one bothered to tell the UCI about it, or they're playing games. Is hashish legal in Italy,, because they seized that too. Has anyone heard from Popovych in the news lately?

This is great. Especially the Popovych/Ferrari bit - although I wasn't aware they had actually found anything illegal at Popovych's place.

This very minor detail is bugging me though:
A hematocrit reading higher than 50 results in a 15-day ban. Swart recalls a rest-day during the '95 Tour when the Motorola riders tested their hematocrit levels. Swart himself was at 48. "Lance was 54 or 56," he recalls.
I imagine the first sentence is an error by the journalist, since blood tests were introduced in 1997, and that Swart is referring to an internal health control by Motorola's doctors?

I would assume the UCI would have to wait until he is prosecuted before opening disciplinary procedures.

I think this is great. Even watered down this is more than I had expected. I'm sure there was lots of legal issues concerned with the report that delayed and diluted article. But, If SI was able to obtain this info, and especially the new stuff, just think what Novitsky has. OMG. Lance is in a world of trouble. HA. It is a whole new ballgame now folks.
Anyone care to wager on when he might crash out today.

Probably because the Feds don't give two rat's @sses about sharing anything with cycling authorities.

Sharing info with the Feds means you give them everything you have, and they give you what they want to give you...when they want to give it.

That's the way I read it. The first bit is just there to give some context I think.

I first heard about this 7-8 years ago. I have posted it various times, only to be attacked by groupies. Nice to see the excellent work by Selena and David. As interesting as the article will be keep in mind it is very watered down after months of threats and harassment by Wonderboy's hired toads.

June 4th 1996 6.5 to 1!!! Just 4 months before he was diagnosed with cancer!

In the video she talks about TexPat having to set up a ruse when testers came to make it look like Lance wasn't around. She also talked about Lance being part of the Olympic testing program for ten years and people there not trying to stop doping among its athletes.

Perhaps the envelope that contained the PEDs was postmarked from the UCI.

Dave.

It could simply be that they measured their hematocrit in 1995 for health reasons to not overdose. The mention of the ban can surely be an error by the journalists yes.

Regardless, can we start calling Lance "Mr. 54 (or 56)"?

I can't believe they wouldn't have rushed that information out at the time.

Yet he won his tours with a lower hematocrit. Doesn't make sense to me.

We really don't know what his HTC was when he won the Tours. It was most likely covered up.

Is there a link between testosterone and cancer?

There is most definitely link.

How do you know he had a lower hematocrit when he won his Tours? Obviously he did when tested, but there are ways to avoid getting tagged (superhydrating).

As for the link between testo and cancer, that has been debated before, without any clear answer However, I think most oncologists would agree that if you have early cancer cells in a testicles, dosing with testosterone and HGH is probably not a good plan.

So why didn't he play ball with Lance in 2009 then?
