If Gesink can do something like that, why can't he TT for his life?

he actually is not a bad tt'r (not a good one :D but not a bad one either), he claimed his altitude training for the tour affected his time trialing at suisse/tour

Admittedly, great ride by Gesink...but was it just me or were the others looking at Ryder to do much of the work? That was a top-class group, they shouldn't have been that punched.

Doesn't that always happen in the 2nd group? If they all go full they will always get him back. It's just that noone wants to work too hard since they all want to win the sprint. It happens all the time. Besides that it's still very impressive to stay away for that long alone.

Particularly this is the case when there are two very good sprinters in the group. EBH would be unbeatable together with a very strong teammate to help pull back attacks (buy cancellara sky, and make him work for edvald!)

psss please do not yell to loud you may awake the haters. Loved seeing the racw=e commentated upon by canadians and jalabert!
There are haters? There's been a lot of buzz around these races and people seem to agree they've provided some great entertainment.

Say whatever you want, but I thought the second group was working pretty well, too well for my liking, together, up until the final 500m that was.

I can remember intense swearing at Maxime Monfort and Haimar Zubeldia for giving it their all when they are as fast as snails compared to Sagan/Hagen

You're right...I just didn't like the way they honed in on Ryder. Given the others palmares you'd think it would have been just as likely to be one of them.

Yes, great ride by Gesink...it's nice that Rabo gets a win or two a year.

Yeah for a while there samu, hesj and ebh were def. taking turns.

I commented on that. Gesink seemed screwed, there were at least 4 guys taking turns fluently for more than 1 km.

I hate to advertise( faux pas)but some think that bike racing does not belong in the Americas. I knew that hese would be 2 fantastic races with worthy winners, I could tell all the riders showed up to race, chapaue to all who participated and the organizers. Oh Canada!

The chase behind wasn't really organised at all. Sagan and to some degree Edvald were the only ones to put some effort into their chasing, the others looked to be soft-pedaling. Particularly Zubeldia, doing the same tactic as he did in san sebastian...edvald was visibly quite ****ed at him :p

That's just poker. They think Ryder will ride anyways since it's 'his' race. Then again as mentioned before here. They worked really well from time to time. Biggest problem was EBH not doing enough and thank god they figured that out in the last 1-2km.

I thought they were working well until about 2-3 km out. I guess they knew he'd bust a nut to bring RG back so they let him shoulder a little more of the load. I was really surprised they weren't attacking EBH in the last km or so, I wouldn't want to drag that horse to that last hairpin. Maybe one of them was smarter than me and just pushed him off course in the turn.

Big respect for Gesink for attacking so far out and holding it on the flats. And EBH earned some respect for hanging on those hills.

Yes, exactly.
Shows that there isn't an elite European attitude towards well organised, unpretentious, North American events.
Two great races, with great futures.

This
ToC is typical USA. Big talk, big mouth, boring result, unattractive race

However, Montreal and Quebec show how you actually get it done. 2 great races, well organised, no big mouth. They came out of nowhere. Big result.
