tweet update: the first two groups come together, but without Wiggins

That's right.

Wiggins and Greipel are in the group that is 2'39 behind. That group consists of about 30 odd riders. Game over for them.

And to think you all laughed when I said Grabsch had a shot here!

If he does win, I will be the first to apologise. But he won't. That time trial doesn't suit him.

A pan flat time trial along the coast (i.e. very windy?) Of course that suits Grabsch.

I don't see Grabsch winning. His ITT's have been sub-par compared to 2/3 years ago.

Also Rick Flens there by the way (4th in final Tirreno ITT)

Too short for him.
It's a typical time trial for the specialists of the big gear. And at 15 k it's not terribly short. Just look up the results of the past years, it's the Grabsch types that do well here.

Eurosport just woken up to Wiggo being caught at the back with Greipel, and that group has clearly given up.

How have Sky and Omega fecked that up?

3 in front, Westra peloton at 30 seconds, next big group at 4 minutes, and another at 7.

3 leaders

then a group of 50 with westra, flens, grabsch and some stronger sprinters + tt specialists at 27 seconds

all others are lost, there is a 3rd group at 3 minutes, a 4th group at 7 minutes and probably there is more. Wiggins, Greipel are out of it and probably a lot more riders are.

Lack of radios is no excuse, this course is not selective enough that Wiggo and Greipel should have ended up so far back. They done goofed.

There is of course the possiblity that Wiggins simply wasn't good enough.

I agree its mostly a feckup - especially Omega of all teams getting caught out by crosswinds in Belgium :rolleyes:

Sky should have got the hang of this by now too - losing the pink jersey last year should have taught them.

Wiggo's usual "taken-for-granted-matter-factly" attitude has doomed his chances.
