Yes, I expected Vlasov to work for Fuglsang, he told La Gazzetta that he's peaking for the 3rd week of the Giro (I guess you could compare his one day races earlier to the classic spring peak that many riders usually have).

I think you are right, he wasn't even pedaling to stay with the 3rd group, he just let a gap open.

I wish they have skipped the MTF stage (which is basically a mountain time trial) as well for another hilly stage. They can still keep the signature 10 km TT.

It should be hard enough to eliminate the heavier puncheurs like MVDP but still open so that aggressive climbers and riders who normally are mountainous stage hunters can win the race.
