Team Sky:
Michael Barry, Edvald Boasson Hagen, Juan Antonio Flecha, Mathew Hayman, Thomas Lofkvist, Ian Stannard, Chris Sutton y Davide Vigano

Kurt Asle Arvesen, NOT Vigano.

This race looks amazing-well balanced with some tough finishes- I foresee a good battle between BMC,Saxo, Sky & Rabobank, although Caisse's line up looks good too.-it's just a pity the Tirreno overlaps with paris-nice

This race is taylor-made for Scarponi/Garzelli.
With a timetrial Cancellara or Boasson for sure would win it, and the italians don't want anyone controlling their turf.

Cancellara will win anyway. Forget what I said earlier about rogers and nibali. With team support I don't think anyone can pull a gap on Cancellara on 5 or 6 and I think he'll win 4, by enough. He's goal race for the season is in 3 weeks.

woot starts tonight (in aus i mean).
I am hoping for gesink to perform here, but I'm not expecting much. Last year he rode here pretty lightly seeminlgy gaining form for the ardennes it seemed. He also doesn't have much racind behind him this season due to having the flue, just 5 days... which was a couple weeks back now. So who knows what his form is like. time will tell.

Tonights stage could be interesting with the rosignano marittimo (max. 9%) within the last 10kms. Hopefully someone tries something.

You get the feeling Boonen will win stage 1 tonight. The conditions are perfect for him.

Either that or Devolder or Cancellara will attack on the climb and say goodbye to the peloton as they cross the line first.

it's one of the few stages the sprinters have a chance, tomorrow being another (though I don't think they will) and the last stage being the only one I'm very confident of being a bunch sprint. If today and tomorrow are sprints I don't think it will be the whole peleton, and I'm not conviced every sprinter will make it to the end with the first group. Stage 3's San Baronto will be a little to tough for the sprinter's imo.

Tuesday's will definately be a bunch sprint and I can see Cavendish take it as a sign that he is back to some sort of form.

Tonight it's Boonen or Freire - both in good form. Both can handle the conditions that will face them.

Last year he lost time due to a fall in the Montelupone stage. Discounting the time he lost he would have been on the podium.
He never needs much racing to get into form. Also, a few days ago he posted these training results:
Super 4,5 h training with 15x 2 min intensive interval uphill. Went very well! 13x around 500 Watts, last 2 times a bit tired...
Looks like his form is OK.

If BMC are claiming to attack this race, I wonder if that means focus on stages or overall?

Is Ballan here as a stage hunter or a genuine overall challenger?

Or is this a practice Giro for Evans?

Wish there was a time trial too, by far the most interesting part of a stage race for me...

Looks like they are coming strapped. Last chance to impress the ASO and get a Tour spot.

Cavendish wins the first stage

It is Cavendish time again. No other sprinter can stand against Cavendish

When he's on form that certainly seems to be the case, but he missed a lot of winter training because of his dental problems and says he is months behind where he usually is. He's still in with a chance, but we are not going to be seeing a fully fueled Manx Missile today, and there are a lot of other very talented sprinters at this race.

Boonen FTW. Everything is building for the most epic Post Roubaix Party. Ever.
