Why on earth did you bump this? He's retired, there is no news. Dutch people reading the forum are getting heart attacks seeing this thread got bumped.

I don't know, just curiousity I guess. I wonder about a lot of riders who have retired, it's just natural. Contador, Valverde, Nibali, etc. A lot of them stay close to cycling still.

I did find some piece of news that someone is writing a book about him which will come out this month in March:

The book will be published in March. Dumoulin did not cooperate. “I’ve talked to Tom many times over the years. I have not experienced that as a great loss. But Tom just stopped. Now is the right time to look back. Together with Jan Janssen and Joop Zoetemelk, he is the only one who has ever won a Grand Tour. So he is really one of the biggest Dutch cyclists ever.”

I seen he was doing some cross-country skiing during the winter and a few days back i have seen a video on YouTube. With Tom and Zeeman and some other people in it. As it was not in English i don't know what it was about.

With running times like that...

can the man swim? Give him some lessons and with his natural ability sure he would be a pretty good swimmer quickly.

Would be fun to see.

He is a better runner and cyclist than Cameron Wurf who has a 5th, 7th and 9th place finishes at the Ironman Worlds and has won 5x Ironmans and is ranked top 10 in the world right now...

over just the bike and the run you would probably expect Dumoulin to take 10 minutes out of Wurf.

Believe Wurf has never broken 2:30 for a marathon (his PB is around 2:36, albeit in NYC which is a tougher marathon than Amsterdam, albeit not 7 minutes tougher, more like 1-2 minutes) and Dumoulin just ran a 2:29 in his first ever one while only running 2 days a week?!?!

Dumoulin has been running for years now. A few years back he did 10 k in like 32 minutes. He's got a good running engine. I don't know if he had trained any running in his youth. I won't say I'm that surprised: the guy has an elite aerobic system.

Just don't put the triathlon early in the Olympic Games if Dumoulin is participating you have to clean the river twice if you do

Yeah, a river is a perfect place to drop some stress-caused load at the start of the competition (or to...discourage his rivals). Triathlon would be perfect for Dumo!

I was surprised to see Tom Dumoulin running in recent Amsterdam Marathon ,
looked good up towards the front until his knee caused issues .

He remained in good spirits waving to spectators , a true gentleman .
