If only he'd ever win a classic
Like Dirk Demol did or Jacky Durand. That would be the highlight of the year
Race Radio said:I was at the Tour in 2004 when he held Yellow for 9 days. Every day he would fight on and lose a few more seconds to Armstrong.
After most stages Lance would go on the post Tour program and do an interview in surprisingly good French. One day the producers asked him if he would answer some questions from a variety of fans that they had taped on the side of the road throughout the day.
They went through 2-3 fans.....when they got to the 4th Fan question it was Voeckler on the TV! He asked
"How many more days does Thomas Voeckler have in Yellow?"
The place went crazy. One of the funniest things I have seen at the Tour.

Ok, not really. I mean not really useless.
Hoping for a new badger was bit optimistic then, but he has very good results anyway and still some years to go.
Don't really know if he ever tried, but he should try to focus on something bigger in his last years, race calmer and save energy on way to big goal - as hard as it is for him and us.
Explosiveness is fading away daily in those years anyway, so he should save some last for something big and even bigger bang.
Ok, sounds armchairishly and he might even have tried this, but thats where I see him and where I would like to see him.
Thinking about something like full focus on LBL or an edition of P-N that suits him, where he should start on topform and then race relatively calm till the big bang bang starts, after some prolog not longer than 6-7 km.
Winning LBL will be even harder but potential is there. Quebec might not be really comparable, but in some way he showed it there too.
I like him very much, because he always brings so much pain to the peopleand himself, but I would make some sacrifices to see him winning something even bigger.
But if you wear yellow yersey or win TdF stage, you are the king anywhere.
Some people stop training after this, but Voeckler always continued to hurt people very much.
