One of the most amusing thread.

It's basically the troll's lair. Or better yet the bride (from sanity to insanity) where the troll lives under.

Even with the weight loss I remain pretty skeptical with his cliombing ability to make the top 10. We'll see. Especially with his ITT suffering.

Or Cav is being clever and showing he's one of the team by sleeping with the lads.

Imagining your desperated face when Tony gets yellow tomorrow will be too good :D:D;)

why would i be desperate? because he may get yellow after a flat stage and a TTT?

You'd be mad and pis sed just admit it:D:D

If he still had yellow 15 days later, maybe. But from a flat stage and a TT? Pretty irrelevant. And hopefully it will mean HTC burning out its domestiques early in the stage and not being able to dominate the sprints so much.

Besides, as we saw with Kirchen into Toulouse in 2008, even the maillot jaune won't get you off leadout duty with Stapleton.

and it does makes sense and makes that team a spectacular machine.

Take out the word spectacular and I'll agree with you.

Using Peter Velits in the leadout train when he's 3rd on GC and the day before the final mountain stage doesn't make sense - you're jeopardising his GC position meaninglessly. And with Hautacam the day after Toulouse (where Kirchen lost the yellow jersey) it was a bit pointless in 2008 too.

But on stages 3, 5 and 6 with Tony? Perfectly sensible, just a bit depressing.

because of those tactics they gain a lot.
more advertisement (look at you for example)
more victories
a perfectly executed sprint (spectacular)
etc.

if i was the boss, i would do the same. there's a reason for that team have a tony martin but not andy or alberto. they are good stage races, but their main goal is the sprinttrain.

They'd have won the Vuelta stage without Velits putting in a turn.

Their tactics gain them a lot of victories but they have strong enough squads that they can afford to do it successfully without wasting GC riders and wasting the opportunity for even more advertisement and victories.

He can't even lead out Cav for more than 2 km. No way he can get top 10.

Poor HTC, 1st Goss suffers mechanical ( stage 1 ), 2nd Eisel falls and screws up their TTT hopes, 3rd Martin/ leadout burned quickly ( stage 3 ) , 4th Cav is relegated from intermediate sprint.
