With the criteria most people are applying, Sagan shouldn't be in the list at all. It's not about potential, nor strictly about 2012 level.burning said:Hushovd 5????? and below Sagan?

Camulos said:As if Schleck his palmares is more impressive than Cunego's or Vinokourov's.
Schleck: 3 Tour stages, 1LBL.
Cunego: 1 Giro, 3x Lombardia, 1 AGR, 4 giro stages, 2 vuelta stages.
Vinokourov: 1 Vuelta, 1 Tour de Suisse, 1 Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré, 2x Paris-Nice, 2x LBL, 1 AGR, 4 Tour stages, 2 Vuelta stages.
I agree that Evans his Palmares surpasses Cunego's but not Vinokourov's.
Evans: 1 Tour, 1 Tirreno, 2x Tour de Romandie, World Champion, 1 Flèche Wallonne, 2 Tour stages, 1 Giro stage.
+1 I was thinking sameMarcus135 said:Does Cadel's and Andy's two 2nd places in the tour not count at all? They are pretty significant results although they are not a win.
El Pistolero said:Psst, Boonen won 7 Monuments and podiumed 5 more, won 3 classics, 8 semi-classics, 6 Tour stages and the green jersey and the world championship on the road.
Andy won 1 Monument and 3 Tour stages.

King Of The Wolds said:A 2nd place in the Tour is the 2nd best result a rider can achieve. Better than a Monument, Giro win or a WC win.

King Of The Wolds said:You conveniently mention Boonen's podiums, but forget to mention Andy's 3 TdF runner-up spots, his Giro runner-up and his LBL podium. A TdF runner up > Monument win, in my view. But yes, of course, Boonen's palmares is still superior to Andy's.
Anyway, in terms of palmares, it's difficult to split Boonen, Cavendish, Cancellara and Contador. They all stand comparison with the very best of their particular types of rider.
El Pistolero said:In 20 years time who will remember second places? Besides Poulidor, everyone else has been forgotten.

King Of The Wolds said:Nonsense. From the top of my head, I can name more TdF runners-up than I can GdL winners, and I bet you can do the same.
El Pistolero said:I don't even know who got second in the Tour last year, so I doubt that.
