It fits when you consider a 28th for Westra was a pretty bad result.

It fits that, but it says the opposite of the 3 weeks hard work narrative. And there is no way to justify losing time to westra in the middle sector which sounds good for Fabian.

Can we be sure that Cancellara won't win now?

Because of rain? Cancellara is past midpoint and most critical corners.

Moreover; the rain could continue, it could be more headwinds later, like last year.

Not necessarily. The three weeks of racing is a malus. Actually having a good day and being in better shape is a bonus. How significant each one is, we cannot know.

Maybe Westra hasn't had to ride for 3 weeks? Maybe?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Game on for Tony and Edvald, amongst others.
Westra was already on the attack on the 1st flat stage  He has been in plenty escape attempts and in has struggled for almost 2 weeks with his right knee which was injured.

So I would not say he hasn't had to ride for 3 weeks...

Sure, but if the effect is that variable it seems like a pretty crap excuse for going 80 seconds slower over a 20 minute effort. That's a 60Watt gap to explain.

Cance now +50 seconds faster

But he's probably only just going under 57 minutes.
I expect the winning time to be around 56.00 - 56.30

Oh please, anybody who bets against Cancellara in any TT is a fool.

Maybe he doesn't win, but I'll eat my keyboard if he isn't in the top5 at least.

Does the fact I apologised not make it clear I was sarcastically taking the Mick out of the excuses made for Canc vs Tony that it has been hard 3 weeks so the times are not comparable.

Westra has also had a hard 3 weeks and has gone quicker. Obviously his Dauphine time was below par, but I still think Cancs time to the 2nd check point is weak, regardless of context.

But if he's second, that's enough for me to make money out of him. ;) Have 100 danish crowns I have to use on some sporting bet. :)

Btw. interesting comment in the letour liveticker, that the Schlecks are sitting in the car following Cancellara - kind of a strange preparation for such an important day, no? Shouldn't Andy be getting a massage or something?

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean any offense. ;)

Anyway, don't sell the fur until you've shot the bear or however that saying goes in English.

Powered through the final third as ever. Fabian shows he's not really on an off day.
