Lance Armstrong is a lot of things, but you have to admit, it is remarkable how lucky he was between 1999-2005 when it came to crashes.

Yeah just the one in 2003, wasn't it? I know USPS crashed in a TTT but I don't think he went down did he?

O'Grady riding at the front on 10% gradient, exciting stuff.
lol! thank you for cracking me up :D

(not watching --as F1 gets the TV right now -- but have it taped)

i am beyond bummed about Vino... i only hope it means maybe he'll come back next year so this isn't the last we've seen of him :(

How is this all Cancellara's fault? Does he really have the power to stop the race? Thor doesn't seem to eager to ride hard either. Or Gilbert.

People get upset when teams attack after crash. Now they're upset the field is waiting with favorites down.

You may notice they didnt wait for Contador and Sanchez on stage 1. Therefore some of us have every right to get upset when we see that when their rivals crash, then suddenly it becomes the right thing to do to wait.

Its not hypocrisy but consistency

I wasn't watching, did anyone retire apart from Vino and VDB2? The ticker mentioned some Garmins were on the floor, did they all get back up?

A great shame to lose those two, the GC field is getting smaller and smaller and smaller. A Contador-Schleck-Evans podium looks more and more certain, the only question is what order they finish in.

DZ or Millar - Race radio saying Millar Eurosport saying their info DZ we never saw a face or number

Let's use facts on this one: Name a year where more favorites crashed out.

And then plot a graph where you look at the last few years.

Sorry, but this carnage is indeed relatively recent.

The only difference is that this year favorites are crashing out instead of lesser known names. Just because you actually recognize the names crashing this year doesn't mean there are more or less crashes than previous years. There have always been falls in the first part of the Tour. There have always been falls on wet descents. There is nothing recent about this.

Twice in 2003, also in the descent leading to Alpe d'Huez I think, he was very lucky there.

It seems it to me too, starting to become a bit of a lottery. Disappointing as final 1/3 of the race with Horner, VandenBroeck, Wiggins, Brajkovic, Vinokourov, Leipheimer may go soon, Garate all involved would've been mouthwatering, you accept 2 or 3 will go, but potentially 10 of a top 20 look set to be gone.

The Leopard / Cancellara hate is getting really sad. One half of the forum is hating them for wanting to ride, the other for wanting to neutralize. You guys are just looking for reasons to hate them now.

Why should Hushovd have to give up the yellow jersey, because, quite clearly LEOPARD have shut the race down?

If they carry on after the peloton regroup, fair enough.
90kms of procession, not so.

Seriously, f*ck these guys. Someone needs to push forward and get on with it. A fan takes down half the peloton on Stage 1 and they push on. Some slips on a wet tarmac and they neutralize a stage??:mad:

If Stage 1 is racing, then this is just racing too.

Did sanchez get injured? Did Contador get injured? Hell did anyone crash out?

No to all of them. There's quite a difference between a crash causing some lost time and a crash where at least 3 riders are so badly injured they can't continue.

Favorites? Who's out that had a reasonable chance to win? Podium maybe. Either way, the attrition rate is about the same as always,. Wiggins going out was a bummer but sometimes cycling is like that.

The TdF is always sketchy the first week.

That's the fun of bashing Leopard :). If they even show their faces up front after a crash they can be blamed for taking advantage, if they even try to control the pace for a bit due to 2 of the main GC riders crashign out they can be blamed for "trying to control the race". There's no losing in the world of the Leopard haters :p

Thank you! Yes, that is exactly right.

No its not. Why is it ok to wait for Kloeden but not for Contador or Samu or CVV or Uran
