Froome is a low gear high cadence climber. That works on most climbs at the tour but not the short punchy ones where you need a bigger gear.

Would have been suicide - Peyresourde is just too gentle. Gaining 25-30 seconds is a big result against that Sky train on this stage.

Sky set a pace that meant nobody was dropped but nobody could attack without being brought back. Good defensive tactics from them.

I sometimes do this on PCM when my leader is having a -5 day. And sky cycling is effectively a video game.

Such cowardly racing. An in-form Contador would've exposed Froome today. Hopefully the others have learned not to ride the Sky train to the final meters now.

Glad Bardet got the win, though.
