Froome probably could have lost minutes if this stage had been raced properly. But no let's wait for the last 500m instead. If froome ends up winning the tour by a few seconds it would be hilarious
This!
It's just not true on this stage. The other teams aren't strong enough, and there's too much benefit to drafting on the Peyresourde. Froome's only vulnerable when the gradients are so high that his team can't help him.

That horrendous next stage could now be interesting though if Froome cracks hard on the steep last 2km.

Froome busted , lol , and Landa said **** you and left him for dead .

Aru in yellow !!!!!

There is not much point Landa pacing Froome on that sort of finish.

Didn't matter what Landa did, finish was so slow there are no gains from drafting.

Exactly. May as well let Landa get as much time as possible to play the 1-2 if need be.

Not good to see everyone waiting for the final 300m... but super happy Bardet won and Aru got yellow :)

Froome is a low gear high cadence climber. That works on most climbs at the tour but not the short punchy ones where you need a bigger gear.

No way. When he's on form he destroys those kind of finishes - like Pena Cabarga, Cumbre de Sol etc...

He's definitely weak this year.

Yes, defintely looks weaker this year, 21 seconds in 300m is a huge time loss. Good for the race.

Great bluff by Sky.

Have to wonder how much is down to form and how much is just struggling with the gradient? Like, can they do this on all the other summit finishes? Uh, I mean the one other summit finish remaining

Hopefully racing all day tomorrow

To a lesser extant than Berto, Froome isn't exactly a spring chicken either. He's right on the edge of that age where riders start to decline (without clinic prolonging). Same age as Indurain when he collapsed, and a year older than Hinault when he retires. Year older than Roche, Delgado, and Fignon in 1991.

He likely is still the man to beat, but he may no longer have that top gear.

Didn't expect that. Froome seemed to be looking down at his gears a lot as well whether in frustration, who knows.

Bardet must go nuclear on a descent at some point now. Got a real chance if he's in this form and can find some time or put others in trouble.

Super from Uran again too

Tomorrow is a downhill chance for Bardet but Serre Chevalier might be even better.

Froome pulling a Quintana in his double attempt!
This.

If somebody tries the double attempt it should be by accident not by planning because they will screw it up for sure!
