4 southern hemisphere riders in top 10

2: neither of the Colombians is from the southern parts of the country.
Nice catch. I don't think even 0.1% of Colombians are from south of the Equator.

Why would it matter which hemisphere someone is from?

Great stage and finish today, to anyone finding this boring, I dont think you know cycling from 1st hand experience. Froome and Sky did an amazing job, Froome will probably still win imo. But I'm rooting for Bardet!
Sorry but may I ask on which planet this was a great stage

The highlights of this stage could be condensed into the last 3-400m.

I really hope Landa goes rogue, why the f would Portal ream out on him like that in front of the cameras? It would've achieved nothing if Landa would've waited Froome...

Bet he can't wait to stick it to them when he's at movistar lol
They'll force him to wait on Nairo
Buyers beware.

Either you contract this guy to be the leader or else!

Absolute joke. If Landa would have been given the green light to attack himself, he'd probably have taken some bonus seconds away from serious rivals and may have even won the stage.

I wonder if the team are a bit scared that Landa's numbers are significantly better than Froome's at the moment. And that Froome is maybe a bit insecure.

You have to wonder, Landa looked like he was a Sunday ride on the last two climbs.

What a sad, idiotic and cowardly spectacle. A few people will have a hard time sleeping tonight thinking of what-if scenarios.

I think these riders and teams are pretty rational and not as susceptible to hindsight bias as you might think

As much as I'd like to agree, I'm afraid not. Aru got a yellow jersey, Bardet got a stage win and Uran would sign a top-5 with his blood. Everybody satisfied.
But most of all, for a few hundred meters Froome went back to his Barloworld days.

Ok, then I think a few people will look back to this stage with lots of regrets in a few days.

I kinda hope so.

It's not a mere matter of hindsight, it's a matter of doing what should be perfectly standard practice to avoid being duped by your rivals: testing them. Especially when the signs are there.

It's almost like there are people in those teams who look at the data and figure out the optimal strategy for a living.

Re: Re:

Why was it not a great stage? A war of atrition, psychology, bluffs, attacks, drops, and 4 riders within 1min overall. So many whiny, elitist fans here, only an attack from 50k by 2nd tier niche fan favorite warrants a good stage. Its like a competition on who dislikes races the most, as if that gives you some weird street cred in this forum.

And yeah, why would an arbitrary division of the earth make any differences whatsoever in whos top 10?

And lol at the vitreol directed against Froome, take a step back, get some perspective or scurry off back to the clinic with the rest of the haters.

14 riders at the summit of Balès was apparently not good enough for their entertainment.

I agree , last tour Froome wasn't dominate in the mountains and this tour/season he's looked worse . Landa wasn't setting a high pace and that's when the attack should have come . It would have been hilarious watching Landa leave Froome with a km and half to go to fend for himself .

It was for me!

I honestly don't understand all the whining about stages being boring either. It's the Tour! How can that be not good enough?

Uran and Bennett penalised 20 seconds for some reason

What a sensible and competent jury this is. **** them.

I think it's a stupid rule they should get rid of but now I do remember Froome had a 20s penalty for food in 2013 so it's been done before.

Yes, penalties have been given out by race juries before. Even before Froome, if one can imagine such a time...

Wow.
