Martin without crash on Mont du Chat = yellow jersey.
You know things don't work quite like math, right?

He was probably be marked more. Things would play out differently.

Well most on here all year have been trying to convince us in the know that Martin is not a climber ....

If he had a team he would have a great chance of wining this ..He has been bounced off a wall and still ahead of the mighty Landa

But as you were...go back to the hype

I'm so angry! Idiotic racing from the favorites!

At some point one has to accept Froome is a worthy winner.
no guts for it for really enthusiastic fans. ;)

Not any more than Martin, Aru, Uran or Bardet to be hones

He has the strongest team by a mile

If he had no team like Martin , Uran or Aru then I would concur without a doubt ...as it is your statement is too premature

Congratulations to Bardet for throwing away what might well have been his only chance to win the Tour in his career.

Vincent Lavenu has to take some of the blame as he is the guy shouting in Bardet's ear.

But yes a missed opportunity today by Bardet, Uran, Martin and Yates to take time out of Froome.
Why other GC riders didn't come to the front to help AG2R pull?

They wont come till there are domestiques available

Obviously Froome is a worthy winner, but they didn't try to kill him today. All they did was ride a hard tempo. Not a single favourite attacked when he was behind.
They were cowards, they could've broken the strongest rider, but were afraid to go all in because they could lose their GC spot. If for example Bardet, Uran, Aru and Martin managed to jump away from that group and worked together Froome most likely would not return, but they also most likely had Landa sitting in their wheels chilling.

Either way they didn't even try which was dissapointing. Froome is not going to lose minutes in the last week, most likely I expect him to gain time before the final TT.

The million dollar question. Martin seems to be the only one who is willing to take a risk. Uran gives the impression he is riding for a podium.

Yes, but frankly speaking, any contender would've had huge problems if he had punctured at the most inopportune moment as froome did today. yes, landa and nieve saved his as$ but that's the reason why there were taken on sky board for the tour.

That's never going to happen while AG2R have about six riders. When Bardet starts taking turns, the other GC contenders can be expected to join in. AG2R just didn't go hard enough; their weakish climbers needed to force a pace above what Froome could do - even if they could only hold it for a minute each.

Well it is a team sport and Landa played the role he is paid to do today. It doesn't help that Astana and Cannondale are pretty weak at the moment.

Dan Martin has just said in the interview that they were going really fast when Froome had his puncture and he doubts anyone else would have gotten back on.

Bardet/AG2R really had the hammer down, and for Froome/Nieve, a spent Kiry and an out of form Henao to gain 40s or so on them is pretty phenomenal. Not only that but Froome looked immediately comfortable after the massive effort of getting back on.

Is that you Carlton Kirby ?

Froome go back on yeah but more impressive was Dan Martin riding away from the peloton to get bonus seconds ...now that is impressive

I thought you werent supposed to take advantage if the yellow jersey has a mechanical problem?
Its an idiotic idea that one rider should get privelage over all the others.

Either you shouldn't attack after any rider has a mechanical, or you can attack when any rider has a mechanical.
