The overhead shot doesn't do the 'elbow' justice. The head on shows cav is already going down and Sagan is just trying to stabilise himself with the elbow.

Lets hope Cav can carry on after this. No malice from Sagan IMO.

Eh. No gap there. If Sagan didn't lean out he would've gone down as well. Unless more footage comes out, or Sagan says he did it on purpose, relegation but not elimination from the race, IMHO. No way to tell intent from those angles.

What about the other crash? Any GC besides Thomas down?

Aye big crash with about 1km to go. Nothing bad though. Thomas and Co came in fine, just a few cuts from what I could see.

From what Hammond said it seems at first glance Cav has no major injuries. We will have to wait and see.

Not sure how anyone can defend that from Sagan. The overhead angle shows a blatant elbow movement towards Cavendish casuing the crash. The apologies after the race from Sagan are just window dressing and commentators are afraid to call it for waht it was, reckless and highly dangerous. If it was Bouhanni for example the reaction would be a lot different.

Replay shows that when elbow came Cav was already falling down.
Not able to tell "who's at fault", but the elbow craziness here on the forum is premature.

Malice or not, I don't matter. It was incredibly dangerous sprinting. He sprinted diaganolly from the middle of the road to next to the barriers, and then blocked another rider with his elbow. It's a textbook DSQ at the very least.

Pathetic how much commentators and experts try to excuse Sagan... Commentators on danish TV where sure it was Bouhanni at first, obviously.

It's simple.
If the elbow came out before Sagan was out of balance it was with intention to hamper Cavendish.
If the elbow was a consequence of the disbalance - it's unintentional.

Chapeau, Demare!

The thing with Sagan is that he is one of the friendliest guys in the peleton. All the riders love him. I expect he successfully calmed Cav.
I also doubt it was on purpose. (EDIT: Watched it 3 more times and now I'm sure it WAS on purpose)
But that doesn't excuse what he did.
You sure know a lot with very little 'evidence'. Perhaps wait what the riders themselves have to say?

I think from this picture it is clear, that the elbow wasnt the cause of the crash, it is his reaction to keep the ballance and Cav is already going down.

I think whats more despicable is like everybody is already sure that it was intentional.

It's pretty clear who's a top fault. Sagan closed a gap, perhaps, probably, accidentally but he closed a gap that was there.

There was no space for Cav. Sagan was just holding his line.

Cav is already going down here, hitting Sagan's right back and Sagan is flicking his right elbow to avoid crashing,

i meant there is no malice in the elbow. I think people are saying an elbow was aimed his way. He didnt elbow him, the elbow IMO from Sagan was for trying to stay upright.

FWIW I think Sagan should be DSQ but not eliminated. I agree it was dangerous cycling.

Just an unlucky racing incident IMO. Whole sprint was veering right, Cav just got unlucky that space ran out.

Utterly ridiculous, but not surprising, to hear certain people blame Cav.

Having watched the replay about 5 times I can honestly say the most dangerous move was made by Demare. Didn't even see it the first 3 times because I was watching the Sagan/Cav crash.
