No room for Cav in that sprint, Sagan should not be penalized at all.

What? Cav had a free lane, played it perfectly until the incident.

Really? You can say that elbowing someone at 60 km/h doesn't deserve a penalty with a straight face? I think ASO might agree with you for financial reason but there isn't no way that objectively - without any fanboyism, partisanship or vested interest - you can claim that Sagan doesn't deserve a penalty.

This, he tried to dive when there is no space, I don't think that Sagan should be disqualified.

What was so dangerous about his riding? It's Sagan who goes right and elbows Cavendish into the barriers.

From above it looks terrible. From the camera infront it just looks as if Sagan is just trying to keep his balance.

I don't believe for a second that Sagan wanted Cavendish to crash. Manxman took a dangerous line to begin with.

I'm sure all the whiny brits wanted Cav to be thrown out in '13 as well when he took out Veelers...

Good god...
Two wrong make a right, huh?
Just because ASO has acted cowardly before does not mean they have to be cowards again.

Yeah first glance made me think Demare really should take up basketball the way he uses other athletes to set a screen but on replay its like... damn dude. Sagan blew it.

He should be banned for this kind of behavior
Yep. I don't think you can understate how dangerous that kind of behaviour is. Cavendish could quite literally have been killed by that.
Puh-lease...

Cav has some responsibility for that situation as well.

The video from the front looks like Sagan's elbow is him balancing himself after Cavendish hits him and starts going down. He didn't elbow him over.

Doesnt look like a broken shoulder for Cav he's back at the bus and chatting with Sagan.

Sagan should drop places but not DSQ after seeing that, he went straight across Cav's line by the looks of it. The elbow flick looks worse from above.

He was still holding bars with that right hand. It wasn't elbowing, more like stability correction.

There was room on the right for Cav to go past, Sagan tried to go for the same gap then elbows Cav into the barrier, and its Cav who was who at fault?

Crazy accusation. Cav was squeezing through as all sprinters always do. Sagan could have blocked him off with his bike, an illegal yet safe move which often goes unnoticed. Instead, he flicked out his elbow and broke Cav's shoulder.
I like(d) Sagan a lot. Most talented rider of the generation by a mile.
But that was disgraceful.

Did he say that? McEwan was a terrorist on the bike....
He did. McEwan is doing commentary for NBC Sports Gold.

Sagan did the elbow flick but was there a space for Cav to squeeze by the barrier? Sagan doesn't have to make space for riders coming from behind.

When Cav goes to the right, there is still space for him to pass. Sagan deviates to the right too.
Yeah you're right. Initially I thought that Cavendish messed up as well by going for an invisible gap but Sagan moved to the right a bit and then flicked an elbow. Could have been accidental, but it may not be.

I want to see more of that first crash. To me it looked like it was Sagan trying to go through a gap that wasn't there, but I'm not sure if I saw it correctly.
