Sagan lost balance. I don't think it was on purpose.
Should be punished but no DQF

I'm sure all the whiny brits wanted Cav to be thrown out in '13 as well when he took out Veelers...

After what happened earlier with Vantomme, Sagan should receive a three months ban. Such a horrible personality.

ASO will look to find any excuse they can to keep him in the race, even though the other guy is Cavendish and all his stage wins. But they may say that Cavendish would have been unable to get through, and penalise Sagan by taking away his points for the stage and some time penalty as well as a fine for dangerous recklessness. Maybe.

So while Cav has an history of his own, so it should be lesson for him, Sagan needs an D.Q. I don't think from the race because he did it for the points so just give him last place and he'll quit this bull.

But I wouldn't protest DQ's him for the tour.
The main point is that you can see he looked at Cav and waited until he was almost alongside him which is very ugly indeed.

Looks like Marc Madiot chose wisely when he had to pick keeping either Demare or Bouhanni on FDJ a couple years ago. At first, it looked like it was a foolish decision but Demare has been repaying Madiot's gamble in spades.

Robbie McEwan: "That was not an aggressive elbow, that was a 'stay upright' elbow."

Coming from McEwan that means zero. He has some incredible feats to his name but the dude was crazy. Abdujaparov style crazy.

On one hand happy Demare won. On the other devastated that Cav crashed and was in a good position.

Horrible crash, hope those injuries for Cav are not too serious. Will not make for good viewing for Sagan.

Nothing serious. Just a broken shoulder or collarbone... Distrasous season for Cav. I think he would've won today.

Just agreeing with a bunch of others -- Sagan ought to be DQ'ed for elbowing Cavendish. Looked deliberate to me.

Sagan shouldn't be disqualified.

He should be banned for this kind of behavior

+1

He needs a lesson. Hes not a 5 year old anymore. Wearing the rainbow jersey and doing such stuff. Take that away as well.

Yep. I don't think you can understate how dangerous that kind of behaviour is. Cavendish could quite literally have been killed by that.

Sagan did the elbow flick but was there a space for Cav to squeeze by the barrier? Sagan doesn't have to make space for riders coming from behind.

Sagan's right hand didn't leave his bars. That fact might save him from DQ. Had he lifted off the bars, tough to justify

Because that crash was pretty evenly the fault of Veelers as Cav.
In fact, according to Cav, who has admitted causing crashes before, Veelers was almost solely at fault in that crash. He says that Veelers misinterpreted the way the road was turning and everyone but him was following the same line. Cav also said that this can't be seen by the cameras which is why the crash looked like his fault on TV.

Says something about the mentality that a broken shoulder or collarbone is considered "nothing serious." :D
