Martin needed to get back before the sprinters got to the front and the pace picked up. Usual pace for the last few kms.

Gutted for Dan Martin, such a nice guy and awesome aggressive rider. Hopefully he’s as strong as he seemed up the Mur and may still vye for contention.

Yeah Martin seemed a likely bet to lose some time on the cobbles anyway, but if he's injured then it could be a disaster. Even if it's just road rash and bruises, the bumpy stuff is gonna hurt a ton.
