Mitchelton Scott team for the TDF is A.Yates.S.Yates. Haig, Trentin, Impey, Hepburn, Juul-Jensen and Durbridge - Once again White has thrown out left field selections for the TDF - MS better hope their leader A.Yates than his key domestiques.

Durbridge and Juul make sense, they are both good for the TTT and can both climb moderately well.
Haig and Simon make sense for the mountains.

I do question Hepburn, Impey and Trentin being in the squad. Hepburn is worthless on any gradient (but great for the TTT), while Impey/Trentin seem more like a back up plan for stage wins, if Adam falls through.

Though, it should be said, both Impey and Trentin might have pulled a "Cort", and dropped a bunch of weight, to be more competitive on the long climbs.

The squad is fine - Though I believe Impey and Trentin should have split the Giro and the TDF.

Nieve or Yates... Last year it was Nieve.
They've assembled a capable squad... Two-piece suit.

Sunweb LIne Up - could do well in TTT

Søren Kragh Andersen (DEN)
Nikias Arndt (GER)
Cees Bol (NED)
Chad Haga (USA)
Lennard Kämna (GER)
Wilco Kelderman (NED)
Michael Matthews (AUS)
Nicholas Roche (IRL)
Biggest surprise is Cees Bol.

As pilot for Matthews I guess

Maybe. But I mentioned in the bros. thread that Gerry Ryan was looking for a title sponsor and a good TdF would be of more value in that regard than a good Vuelta, which given how Simon floundered at the Giro is not a sure thing. If Simon can save energy and give Adam some significant climbing help, even in just 3 stages, then it's hardly a wasted spot.

It also adds a plot line, which always helps in generating publicity.

so who will win the young rider jersey?
Bernal with a 10 minutes gap.
If they keep him upright and in the race
Probably wins white by 20 minutes if that happens.

it are riders who are born before 1995 ?

I don't think this is how youth competitions work...

It's 1994 or after.

yeah but matthews chances of green are much higher

Percentage-wise maybe, but certainly not percentage points wise, since Sagan has a 95 percent chance if I'm being conservative.

Would've been even higher with the slightly different placing of the intermediate sprints.

Honestly Ineos climbing squad doesn't look that frightening. Moscon and kwiat are a bit of an unknown bernal and thomas are both in protected roles and Castro, van baarle and rowe all aren't great climbers. It might actually be possible to derail that train with enough fire power

BORA-hansgrohe

Patrick Konrad
Emanuel Buchmann
Peter Sagan
Daniel Oss
Gregor Mühlberger
Lukas Pöstlberger
Marcus Burghardt
Maximilian Schachmann

They named Konrad and Buchmann as shared leaders for the GC. With Sagan going for another green.

It is.

Apart from Rowe they can literally all be there in a peloton that's reduced to 30 dudes. Poels will have Bernal's role of last year, and he will be up for it cause last year he was coming off a Giro/Tour double which in turn was coming off injury.

They might get reduced to 3 riders when there's like 10 guys left but when Kwiatkowski is done it's not like many of those 7 other riders will be in a very happy place in life.
