Dummy was distancing Pogacar yesterday on Glieres but sat up when Mas and Landa discusses work so WVA could come back, and he was far and away the strongest on the gravel as Pogacar was on the limit. He’s too nice.

Even when Pogacar had a 13 seconds lead at the first checkpoint I didn't see it coming. I thought the more experienced Roglic was saving some energy for the climb. This was a huge surprise.

I don't think even Pogacars team saw this coming. Nobody did. If anything people were expecting he went too fast at the beginning and for him to fade later, but I guess nobody told Pogacar he needs to fade if you put in a huge effort beforehand, so he just continued. ;)

The coverage could really do with some help from a few knowledgeable cycling fans

It should look like a nasa data centre ideally, split screens, graps all over the place etc etc
Sometimes I think it would be more interesting if there were no information at all on the screen, just the riders. And the only time info you get would be at the finish line.

I'm still staggered by the performance of Pogacar, he looked to be fading and then he smashes the field ( Yes, Roglic had a bad day, but still )
He looked to be fading at last year's Vuelta too and then pulled off his best ride of the race on Stage 20. Will be difficult to ever write him off in future GTs.

Riders who have won Tour de France and another 2 additional jerseys in the same Tour:

2020 TADEJ POGACAR
1972 Eddy Merckx
1970 Eddy Merckx
1969 Eddy Merckx

Yeah but Merckx's were GC, Points, Mountains and Combined. There was no white then or else he'd have won that along with all the above in 1969. White hardly counts in the tally IMO.

Combined jersey hardly counts too if one is already top on GC, Points and Mountains.

And in 1969 the points were the same for winning any road stage, unlike today which is weighted in favor of the sprinters

Edit: and as an absolutely meaningless exercise, under 1969 rules Pogacar would have had 150 points in points classification at the end of today, while Bennett would have had 103

And yes I am aware that the race would have been raced totally differently

Has there been any explanation for Valverde's historically bad performance? He was worse than Lopez, injured Quintana, Chaves and Dan Martin.

I mean last time he was this bad in a GT time trial I was probably not even born.

Looking at the table, Rog's ITT wasn't all that bad, he was looking bad. I mean he's fifth on the stage, lost 35" to Tom and Richie, no shame. Pog was off the charts. But yes, Rog and his team were too friendly with the cheeky youngster throughout the race.
