Another "fan" to decide the outcome of the race.

The peloton is often protesting against wind and snow but never about wild spectators. They haven't even addressed the problem. Now is the time.

how did the fan decide the outcome of the race? all 4 realistic GC contenders finished together (carapaz lost 5 sec) and its not like alaphillippe is a surprising winner either

Amazing really, after two massive crashes, how few GC contenders have lost time.

Lopez the big loser at 1'49" Buchmann, O'Connor and G.Martin on the same time

Woods is out of it at 8'49", but I never had him down as top ten anyway?

I don't know if this was so very important for the end of the race, but I agree that for too long wild, self-absorbed spectators have been seen as important fans who bring emotion to the event.

The crash that had by far the greatest influence onthe outcome had nothing to do with any fan. The fan-caused incident in no way "decided the outcome of the race", unless you think Sutterlin was likely to win it.

Analyzing the second crash: I'm not assigning blame, because the footage isn't clear to the cause, but the rider who fell was #224 Maxime Chevalier, and before he fell he was in close contact with #57 Dries Devenyns.

The Jumbo guys took a huge hit from that "fan".

So yeah, it could impact the GC race massively if Tony Martin & Sepp Kuss are badly hurt.

They should be happy Roglic is okay and has good legs. Top 10 GC is somehow established after the first stage.

I know there are rules and so on, but is there no chance of them neutralising the time gaps for the last big crash? It was such a big crash, on the first day, and so close to the finish that there was never a chance to get back on.

I hope Omi and Opi appreciated the gesture at least...
