I hope so, but I don't think the previous hills are difficult enough to put most sprinters in difficulty, even if raced hard. Cav, sure, but who else?I hope they rideultra hard in previous climbs, so that the peleton is already thin coming into last 10ks. Else it will be hard to watch.
Julian will not only win stage 1, he will be the winner of this tour.
MVdP to get the jersey that his late Grandfather was never able to wear, I recon that even the French public would cheer for him over Ala because of that.
tbh the whole positioning thing is more with flat ending stages.MVDP is the logical favourite but could easily find himself hobbled by his tendency towards being out of position and leaving too much to do at the very end.
Might be a little too tough for Colbrelli although he was flying in the Dauphine and not sure Sagan has it still to win in this company.
My tip and the value bet at 20/1 for the stage win is Roglic.
No mention of Woods or Martin yet. At 66 and 80/1 the bookies seem to agree but surely this isn’t a bad profile for them?
Their problem is that they really don't have a team that can help them to get into the right position on a hectic stage like this. It has never been their biggest strength and who can help them on this kind of terrain, maybe Froome? No mention of Woods or Martin yet. They need to beat them before the final flattened 250m.I can see them making top 10, but how are they gonna beat MvdP or Ala in the final flattened 250m?

Yeah, that's why bringing both Froome and a token Israeli rider was just a really bad call.Froome struggles most with punchy terrain so they are on their own, they should have picked Mads Wurtz.
