Tour de France Tour De France 2021, stage 1 (Brest-Landerneau, 197.8 km)

This one will be for PouPou, it means too much to Van der Poel to get it wrong.

My tip is for Allaphilippe and Van Aert to push him, with Sagan, Colbrelli and Matthews best of the rest while Carapaz and the Slovenians hold their own well.

Then again, we could have another Teunissen type moment :D

Van der Poel will win this, unless he gets his positioning totally wrong or has a really bad day.
But the stage should still create some drama, with at least Roglic and Pogacar involved in the very final and some guys to crash out for sure. Van Aert may surprise if he's in better form than expected. In perfect form he can match van der Poel here.

Some guys is a very polite way to say Geraint Thomas!

Michael Rasmussen reporting for a Danish newspaper, says the climb to the finish is "relatively flat", but the big battle is on the small, twisty roads leading up to it (last 5K), after a technical descent from the last categorised climb.

He predicts complete chaos, with lots of crashes and no single team being able to control the finale, meaning it becomes every man for himself.

Good times ahead :p

Just ran through the list of starters - seems to me we have the highest bottom level in the peleton for a long while. Lots of solid riders with great palmares. Looking forward to this years edition :)

Yes, the struggle for position will be just as important as the final climb itself. The first stage of the Tour is always extremely nervous and dangerous for crashes.

I wonder how Alpecin will fare among those bigger budget teams. MvdP can win if he reaches the foot in a good position. Van Aert can win if Jumbo works for him today.
