Poels has to be the least tactically gifted rider in the peloton. What a dork.

I liked Chris Anker's take on him. The type of person who fires all his fireworks on December 28th and then when New Year's arrives, he is left with nothing, maybe a single - wet - bullet for a hundeproppistol (sorry, I have no idea how to find out how to say that word in English).

I think van Aert will win, I expect him to be one of the least suffering ones on the false flat, he has his teammates with him, he can do the Beixalis and in addition has the descends to his advantage.
Also looks good for Nibali, but I don't know if he has the form.

Cattaneo said after yesterday's stage that he asked Poels and Woods to cooperate when they had a decent gap on the rest, but they didn't answer and tried to drop him on a descent. When he caught back up he asked them once again, but once again zero collaboration. That is just mindblowing, both of them were riding for the KoM jersey and faster than Cattaneo in a sprint.

I think they lost already the biggest opportunity in the race against Pogacar. They cannot count on him having a bad day. So whatever they are trying to do won't work. Pogacar will destroy them along with his teammates. 150 KM from the finish is very hard to do. Pogacar at the start of every stage sits at the back. Just like Froome in Formigal. Physically you would kill him if you make him work from that position. It looks like the others are already fighting for second. I think is fine but they should have at least try to get Pogacar at a bad positioning.

I think a lot of people are acting like it would be a massive disappointment if Vingegaard doesn't finish on the podium. No! It will be a massive achievement if he does finish on the podium. Top-10 will be a great result.

Uh. Before the race, maybe.

Now that we've seen him be the best on Ventoux and 2nd best of the GC riders in the ITT, and now that Roglic has crashed out, it would be pretty underwhelming to not podium.

Need Conta to come back to have something like that happening

Tony Martin after his fall: "I successfully completed the first lap. I still have a bit of pain, but everything is within the limits. But I cannot say how things will continue. That will be discussed in peace after the tour."
