What would have to happen for today's thread to surpass yesterday in page numbers?

Evenepoel would have to get teleported into the Race attack on the Croix-de-Fer and win the stage with 6 minutes while Pogacar takes yellow back from Vingegaard by doing a sub 38min Alpe

Headwind or not, Nathan Van Hooydonck doing his best Luke Rowe impression should not be enough to discourage any attacks

This stage makes no sense so far. So many teams that have breakaway ambitions but no, let's let Van Hooydonck set a pace that Jakobsen can follow while a small break slowly moves out of reach.

Also means the GC riders are probably favoured for the KOM jersey at this point.

Galibier south being a *** climb should though

Also headwind on Croix de Fer most likely.

It's just an Alpe d'Huez wattsfest I think.

Anything was going to be anti climax after yesterday but it looks like a Jumbo train could drill this all day.

The break isn't even gaining time either though.

I mean there are probably more than 10 people wanting to do something for the stage that have no chance doing anything starting Alpe d'Huez in the GC group.

For the GC guys, yeah, I expect nothing before the last climb. For the stage I do expect more

Feels like there's some weird agreement to get everyone over the galibier lmao
It's probably because of the serious headwind tho. Thet turned now and it's steeper so there should be attacks now.

Yeah but they've made it so much harder for themselves by giving Powless two minutes, going to take quite a bit of extra energy to close that gap.

In his interview this morning, McNutty obliquely implied that Pog is not feeling well. It could be a bluff, but if JV senses more weakness today, maybe they'll drill it again and put more time into Pog. They should if they can.

On the Cycling Podcast yesterday, Ian Boswell says he saw Pog showing irritation and anger with people after the race. Pog is in an unusual place right now: let's see if if he fights his way out of it.

He did congratulate Vingegaard very jovially and imo genuinely right after the finish. His disappointment surely is understandable.
